dumb question perhaps but why would audi do this in the first place? could it impact the life of the parts, wear and tear? invalidate the warranty?

On the to do list tomo...good find, will be nice to hear the Akra at its best all the time!

You'll get your money's worth out of that Akrapovic now. I bet it sounds awesome.

S4won. Shouldn't be any extra wear and tear. Warranty wise, just plug the connectors back in before taking for a service. :beerchug:

How does it compare on idle and lower rpm's?

It's still quiet on idle but touch the throtle and it springs to life, blip the throtle and you get that lovely bark. When the car goes to the dealer I will plug them back in, it's so simple Ito do.

Nice one Bosco, appreciate you sharing this, just need my car to arrive now been promised keys will be in my hand 1st May then the tinkering and tweaking can begin!

So it's simple as unplugging the connectors? Seriously? Do I have to jack the car up or I can just crawl under and reach in. Gotta go find moi some duct tapes!!!! :jump:

No need to jack the car up, you just need to get your head under to see what your doing. I done this in the dark using my phone as a torch. A quick pointer use sellotape to cover the ends of the connectors before duck taping, this will prevent the strong duck tape glue causing a problem when you come to re connect them back up at service time.

First of all, I can't see why anyone would feel the need to do this...unless they are around 12years old of course :bigblink:
I believe that when you are under the car disconnecting the connectors to the exhaust actuators that there is also a hidden panel just above the exhaust. This is opened by pushing up hard and rotating CCW (child proof so some may struggle and need adult assistance :biggrin2: ). Contained within this secret compartment is a thunderbirds themed hoody top that Audi included to complement the exhaust "mod"!

Reading further, it seems like the flaps are controlled by the engine management system and are not programmable conventionally using VCDS or similar. The operation of the flaps are factored into the mapping for the engine. Given that a the "fail safe" position of the flaps seems to be in the open position and that there is no fault code with them disconnected, then it would seem reasonable to assume that there will be no adverse effect on the engine.... :? That said, given that AkrocTec, Milprovic etc make shouty exhausts, it seems strange that they leave the flaps connected- again might only be to keep the mobile roadside emissions testing patrols happy should someone be unlucky enough to be pulled for a random check.

Each to their own of course- love these cars no matter how loud they sound :jump_clap:

I might leave the exhaust plugged in and just get the hoody from the secret compartment. :thumbs:

I understand what your saying and agree that if I was in my late twenties and older I might leave them alone, I'm not I'm 22 and going to play around with the systems. I'm going to DMS to re map her as well, O no don't do that you might invalidate the warranty. :biggrin3: :assflash:

As I said, each to their own. Your warranty, your potential TD1 to manage later, makes less than no difference to me if you map it or not.:roll:

Or spend some bucks and get a Capristo remote hooked up to open/close the flaps on the fly.

How are you getting on with the valves disconnected. Have you had any error codes pop up or any other issues.
