Thoughts on is spec please...

Post by S4WON » Sun Mar 08, 2015 9:02 am

Sepang
Black Seats with Rock Grey

Matt Styling Package(I just gotta have "quattro" on the grill!)

Advanced key with boot (got so used to this on the S4)

Audi Connect (Audi Nav has always been pretty crappy, i like the idea of google maps/soon to be waze maybe)

Heads up display (it is very cool and perhaps something not everyone will spec. I can see this having some wow factor for resale-maybe!)

Parking Advanced (this wide load, tight spaces, cool top down view, must have imho)

Privacy glass (keep the paparazzi at bay!)

Sports exhaust (hear it roar!)

And thats it.. So... My "concerns"...

No dynamic pack - consensus seems to be Air is fine, DRC is best left on comfort anyway (and the history with DRC doesnt help) and the dynamic steering is rubbish. Thoughts on that?

Sunroof - was initially in my spec, then i heard it adds 100kg to an already heavy car and thought, hmmmmm....

I really wanted the intelligent speed camera display in my hud, but you have to add the full on ACC, side assist pack for this. And I've heard most people don't like ACC and turn it off! Any thoughts on that?

All feedback really appreciated!
Thanks!

Forgot to say, i specced brush aluminium inside originally but saw a few pics of it online and it just didnt look right (or as good as carbon).

I also thought it might scratch easily, if anyone has an alu interior can they let me know how they are getting on with it please

I like the sunroof personally and with 2 kids they like it too. Nice in the winter when it's too cold to get into the convertible but have some fresh air.

If you have kids the rear heated seats for £120 is a bargain.

I like the air setup as makes the car as comfy as a Range Rover Sport and in dynamic really handles well for it's size.

To be honest you have a good spec there, the HUD looks good when driving but ruins the dash IMO. Spec is nice without going overboard.

I retrofitted the Audi connect and worth it.

2014 LR Defender XS
2014 RR Sport TDV6 HSE Dynamic
2003 Audi A8 4.2 LPG

Few others kicking around.

Thanks John, really useful. I missed that rear seat option for the kids, will check it out.

I think you are missing a trick by not spec'ing ACC. I think it's essential on a bahnstormer like the RS6 and it works brilliantly.

It's a dark place inside the RS6 with black seats and no roof, but I do hear that they cause problems after a few years and that they creak, too.

The only thing I spec'ed that was a complete waste of money was the Convenience pack - the boot liner they provide is rubbish, and the rest of it is pointless.

It's £320 for the heated rear seats, not £120. Before the facelift it was £100 (or £120?) - a bargain, but the FL meant a lot of VFM features either became unavailable or got bundled inot over-priced packages "for our convenience" when ordering.

Do you know..... I have spent this morning you tubing ACC and i think i might be converted.. Especially twinned with the HUD, with this power knowing as quickly as you can how much speed you need to take off will be very useful.

Safety aspects useful aswell ofc! Maybe ill treat myself as i dropped the sunroof

Good point on the all black, hence im tempted to go with alu interior pack, but the one i saw in pictures didnt look right, for some reason.. Hmm. Should go see one in real life i guess

Thanks wildbore

ACC gets even better when you realise fully how clever Pre-sense is:

Yeah and you can only get pre sense front with the whole package now. Ive read different things about PS braking, would you happen to know (or care to try) if it would apply max brakes in really bad situation?

Ive heard it will only do "up to 30%" braking too.

Do you have it? Fancy flooring it against something stationary and seeing what happens! Joking ofc!

Hmm, the post about being a dark interior has got me thinking! Does anyone have lunar silver inside and regret it? General thoughts on it?

This speccing up is so stressful! Lol

I looked at several lunar cars - it is stunning with the Sepang and the Panther black. If you think you can keep it clean then I would go for it. I use my car for a lot of rubbish clearance (it's already been down the tip loaded to the gunnels and it's only a week old) so a dark interior was a necessity.

To be fair, its 320 for front and rear, could you spec individually pre FL then?
