Correct type of wheel bolts?

Post by ajsl » Thu Mar 24, 2005 6:04 pm

Hi,

What type of wheel bolts come with the standard B6 S4 OEM wheels?

Are they conical or ball seat bolts? See http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/tech/lug_nut.jpg for the differences.

I'm needing to buy a set of longer lug bolts to put some B6 wheels on my B5 S4 :) and want to get the right ones!

I'm 99% sure its the conical type; I changed 4 wheels last weekend putting summer wheels back on so handled about 20 bolts !!

BUT not having paid complete attention you should probably wait for another confirmation - just in case I'm a dip-wit.

B6 S4 is ball/radius (95% sure) as when I changed to my reps they took conical and I had to change them.

oops! Teach me to be so cock-sure! Glad you posted that Scotty, just realised the spare bolts in me garage are from my reps, not the Avus, will have to check over the w/end

LOL well, we now have over 90% confidence in both conical and ball seat bolts!

Just as an aside, the bolts on my B5 S4 are ball/radius seat.

beat me to it Daz ! just walked in to work from the carpark having done a quick unbolt/ bolt

Im very happy my 1st post was only "99% certain" - I'll now go with the remaining 1% and confirm that my bolts are also ball/ radius.

It appears that the oxidation is standard and not an optional extra
