Never bought car at the end of its model life. I normally buy when they've just come out and are brand spanking!
I need reassuring.............
Nobody knows for certain (apart from Audi themselves) but unless Audi are going to change the habit of a lifetime and launch an RS at the same time as they do a new model, I dont think we'll see the B9 RS4 on our roads for another 18mths minimum.

The 2yr GFV on a new RS4 at the start of Jan £36k, so if a new RS was imminent they would never have priced it that high and be left with lots of dead cars that would get handed back.

I'm like you, this is the first car I've bought at the end of a lifecycle, but after the big discount I got and the high GFV after 2ys, I took a punt.

Also, don't forget this is highly likely to be the last V8 we'll see, so you'll be in something very special :)

All great points guys, thanks.
Have to say that I can't wait for the V8 and the noise....!
I sure when it's here I won't have any second thoughts!

Miatang, no not had a build date yet. Did call my dealer today and they're on the case apparently.
Was told I'd know by close of play today but I wasn't surprised when nobody called. (Car dealers eh??)
I'll give them a couple of days then give them another call.
Hope I get the same news you did!

If the new b9 rs4 (assuming there will be one) is a few years down the model line, the prices of existing cars will firm up nicely
All very unknown though

Usually end of run models tend to have a higher level of options when ordered by dealerships than the models at their introduction, and the last models of any car tend to be be most sought after they have gone out of production. So whilst the new RS4 will eventually appear, if you get one of the last of the present models with a high options list it should hold its relative value at least as much if not more than earlier models.
This usually is the case with other high end makes - not just Audi!

That was part of my thought process as well when buying. It's a bit unknown, as you say, but in theory if the B9 is 18-24mths away and supply dries up, the used market will bolster as people hold on to their cars. The trick will be to get out just before the B9 is announced (not physically available). Which is what I plan to try and do, get my deposit in early and get an agreed price on my car so I can in theory come out with lots of equity.

I was originally looking at S6/RS6's, but the residuals were horrific on them. The sales manager said he very rarely gets repeat business on the S/RS 6's, but he can chop people in and out of 4's all day long because they will always be desirable, therefore they have bullet proof residuals.

It's the "last V8" that sealed it for me. I plan to keep mine.......well that's the plan now :). Whatever people say the B8 RS4 will be a desirable 2nd had motor, even if it had a warm reception after the B7. I saw a mugello B7 this morning.....still looks phat 7/8 years on.

If they haven't called you back then I would assume there was nothing to tell you. I had similar issues when I bought my S4 a from my dealer. They were quick to take the money but not so quick to return calls :audibash: Saying that this time round they have been alot more proactive.

The head of Product Development at Audi has been quoted in a US magazine as saying that they will start deliveries of the B9 RS4 (which will have a twin turbo 3L V6) at the same time as the A4 and S4.

Audi are milking the RS sub-brand for every sale and every cent they can make out of it.

I've heard about this article, but I've never actually managed to find it. Are there any links to it online?

If it is the case then how will Audi keep the B8's values artificially high in order to stop a glut of the cars being handed back FOC under the PCP value T&C's? :)

There seem to be several linked articles, all with some facts and some speculation:

And don't forget that a US "2016" model will actually go on sale as early as August 2015...
