Seen a few people flashed on the M25 recently while driving back and forth to work these last couple of months while there was no reduced speed limit. Cruise control has become my best friend.

Between M11 and A1?

New cameras have gone up, they appear to be speed as opposed to variable speed cameras.

Yeah northbound between A12 to M3 various places. It's the flash ones that have been getting them. Record has been four in one journey.

Aye, have to be careful now. Not that you can get much above 50 for the most part.

You can never be too careful. The variable cameras, I always go through them at 70 even if they are not lit up. Strange thing though, on the way back from MRC at the weekend, I seen quite a few prople flying through them when they were lit as a 50mph limit and didn't see anyone get flashed. That was heading up north mind. I think further south they must want more convictions/disqualifications for congestion reasons :| Who knows?

chris_m, I don't think the variable (SPECS) cameras do flash, the yellow overhead ones.
Correct me if anyone knows for sure otherwise

These are the ones I meant mate. I am sure these ones are supposed to flash? The yellow overhead ones are the average speed cameras and dont flash.

^ I've seen those ones flash too. Not often though and can't remember whether lower speed limits were in force or not.

They have boxes on the back and I always look in my mirror to see if I can see any flash. Some cars were tearing past and nothing... I have definitely seen them flash, more so on the opposite side of the road as it's easier to see them flashing.

I've had a lot of experience with the the ones on the M1 between j12 and j10 ish. I've found that when not lit you can go through them up to mid to high 90s before they go off. Certainly at an indicated 90mph they didn't set off. I got flashed by one once at just over 100mph but nothing ever came of it.
I've also seen ones when there is a 50 or 60 limit at people pass at 80 or 90 with no flashing.

I'm by no means encouraging anyone to try this out and i certainly don't want to give anyone a false sense of security. Some of these experiences were from around 3 years ago so things may have changed since.
Also seen similar on the M25.

I went to Leamington Spa Magistrates court today charged with doing 80mph in a 50mph zone i.e. I was on the A45 at Ryton under the bridge coming into Coventry and got flashed by the Truvelo Piggy Bank. It was burned out last time I drove past it & too late to slam the anchors on when I saw it. It was a dry sunny day, 3pm, very light traffic. Great go fast weather.

Needless to say the magistrate muppet show charged me with 6 points, a fine, costs & admin charges of £750. It never ceases to amaze me what w4nkers magistrates are, they do not give a sh1t and only didn't ban me as I said I'd loose my job as they cannot take away your livelihood. There is no point providing mitigation, you may as well just say yes it was me, sorry and take the heat.
:drink: :piss: :<beep>_you: :knob: :assflash:
Never mind at least I wasn't banned and can still drive my lovely RS4 !
