Ceramics retrofit

Post by drhex » Sat Jan 17, 2015 2:52 pm

Hi,

new on the forum (have been lurking for a bit...). Have recently bought an RS6 4G and decided to retrofit the ceramics. Have all the parts by now but am a bit daunted by the coding requirements. Nobody can really tell me what's needed so far, opinions range from "nothing needed, works just fine" to "big security risk". Does anybody here have an idea about what is coded and how?

Thanks,

Florian

I have retrofitted Ceramics to my B7 RS4 and all is fine, the 'Tech' is a little more antiquated than your RS6 but it still shouldn't be a problem I'd have thought. I only had to recode 2 modules in doing the retrofit, this was to adjust the pad wipe delay in the rain.

MRC quoted me £286 to swap over from steels to ceramics, yours would be more than that as there is rear brakes to do as well.

Thanks for your response, that's what I thought - just need the actual coding to be done. Would think that there is somone out there who knows what to do :-)!

Sam question here, can you guys who have RS6 C7/4G make scan of ABS module and write if you have steel brake or ceramic, would really like to compare it.

Thanks

There is many people who retrofit ceramic brakes on S6/RS6 C7 and S7/RS7 already. I know at least 8 guys who did that.

Did all of them skimp on the coding then?

OK, seems noone has an idea? Can you maybe post the coding of your ABS then? If we get enough info we may be able to deduce something.

It's fronts only on c7, no ?

Out of interest, drhex, what was the cost of the parts ?

About 8.000,-€. All new but front disks. LittleDevil can help if you're interested.

Not sure if this helps, but my c6 ceramics are about to be retrofitted, fronts and rears, and virdee who is fitting them needs to code the abs, David (classba) did the same and kept the coding so maybe ask virdee??

C6 has another ABS with short coding to my knowledge. Are you just changing coding there or in other places as well? Heard that airbag needs changing, too.
