Change clocks
Change clocks
Hi. I purchased an rs4 that was imported from Southern Ireland... And it has kmh clocks. I have purchased some mph clocks now, so can anyone tell me if they will just plug in and work, or whether I need any coding etc to the car to make them work...
Regards,
Chris

Sorry I don't know the answer but it helps if you either post in the right forum or tells us which RS4 you have as that might make a difference to the answer.

Re: Change clocks
Ok no worries. I'll be interested to see the answer though. Have you tried looking through the VCDS website to see if there is any coding for the change of clocks? If it's possible then I assume they will have it listed.

Re: Change clocks
Before i bought the one i got i looked at one with same issue....went to audi and they said its against the law to drive with kmh clocks and need changing asap.they also said that its not a straight swap over...like you say they will need coding the new clocks...and for there trouble they wanted 200 bucks but with a bit of negotiating you probably get it cheaper than that..
Re: Change clocks
Thanks for the replies. I have had a quote from a local vw / Audi specialist to fit them, but thought that if is was just plug and play I would change them tonight.

Re: Change clocks
Where did you buy car from
Re: Change clocks
The £200 is probably just for them to plug the laptop in and change a digit somewhere so if you have VCDS is it probably possible and wil lonly take a few mins once you have the right bit to change.geordie jay wrote:Before i bought the one i got i looked at one with same issue....went to audi and they said its against the law to drive with kmh clocks and need changing asap.they also said that its not a straight swap over...like you say they will need coding the new clocks...and for there trouble they wanted 200 bucks but with a bit of negotiating you probably get it cheaper than that..

Re: Change clocks
They said it had to be coded along with the car keys???? Found that part a bit strange
Re: Change clocks
Bought the car from a dealer in London. Was imported in 2009 from Southern Ireland.

Re: Change clocks
Yeah, but even though it was registered here, it still spent a lot of its time in ireland.
