Silas and I were talking about this today as I've a friend with a 4dr M4
I've had a few races with him to compare cars, and like the video shows, I smoke him off the line and once we're up and running he mullers me
However, on a tight twisty or damp road, things are much more level, and I'm happy to admit that he's a much better driver than I am
On a dry race track, I suspect the bm is faster, but in the real world where roads can be damp or badly surfaced, I suspect it's quite close

His is a lovely looking thing though - White with black wheels and black styling

B9 needs to have a couple of blowers and the table will turn again :). I never have and never will own a BMW (or Merc)....even if it wins a drag race ;). As previously stated, horses for courses.

Rs4 performance levels have been static for well over a decade, that's simply a joke! You've got golfs and a3's offering the same if not better performance, audi need to up the game in both performance and handling for the b9

I'd like to say I wouldn't buy a bmw,but they have seriously upped there game with there interiors, they also offer good maintenance packages on new cars, much cheaper than audi. But ultimately I don't want a high performance rear wheel drive car that's always got an ecu shutting down the power to stop it going in a hedge nor do I fancy it catching me unawares if I've turned it all off,if they do an x drive M series I think audi are in serious trouble, the x drive system is far cleverer than quattro.

300kg lighter with more torque sports coupe/saloon, beats family load lugging estate. shocker!

All this talk of the B9 needing to "up its game" is slightly nonsensical. The cars serve two different purposes. If BMW ever decide to do an estate with 4wd, then come back and compare, until then you might as well compare it to a Golf R or a RRS, for what that's worth.

As a tool for what it's intended, there's nothing on the market that even comes close to the RS4 as an all round package. Sure, the engine is getting on a bit now, but with fuel prices slumping the 'economy' thing is once again becoming a minor factor, so I'm just going to enjoy that V8 rumble, superb traction and load lugging space.

FWIW my gf never felt comfortable driving my old 1M because she didn't feel fully comfortable with the turbo surges through the rear wheels, where as she's more than at home in the RS4 and drives it with confidence.

Horses for course.
