mrc stage 1

Post by vigo4 » Fri Jan 02, 2015 5:25 pm

I arrived at MRC at 8.30 this morning after driving up from Kent. My stock basic manual B8 was put on the Dynamometer and record at 360.7ps engine power. We agreed on a new air filter and then Doug worked his magic. After about two hours and a few mugs of tea my new output measured 466.3ps engine power. The drive home was good, the performance before was good but now its brown trouser time and amazingly despite a heavy right foot the fuel consumption had got better by one mile per gallon. I have already done a tank of fuel playing.

its great, the car feels great. handles the power with ease, my only small concern is the brakes or should i say breaking earlier to compensate for the extra speed.

Impressive figures for a stage 1, I only made 485ps with a stage 2.

That's a good increase, was that just the stage 1 remap and air filter?

Nice drive again today and the car gets better more i get to know it.
My car is 3 years old with 18000 miles, no sport diff. manual.
I had a Stage 1 with a new air filler. MRC get better figures with the manual box, something or other to do with holding the revs opposed to the s tronic. i loose a bit from start but more than make up through the range. I am really happy with the results, i feel as if i have a real sports car.

Another fun week the car is great, speed is amazing and economy is slightly better. A high speed take off whilst showing off to a mate is not advised as the revs hit the limiter quicker than I changed gear. So if you want really fast takeoff get a stronic, or pull away normally then give it some wheely in 3rd , 4th 5th 6 th, holley <beep> 130 up Wrotham Hill before running out of driving talent.

I think the air filter is an ITG filter.
Audi S4 B8, 6mt, 462hp, 539nm, AWE exhaust with AWE resonated DP's, MRC filter

Sounds a great result from a stage one. Wonder what the torque increase was though as I suspect this is where the difference between stages one and two lies.
My stage 2 (6MT) reached 490PS and 606NM.
After 3000 miles it seems just as flexible as ever before - just faster at every level with the usual get up and go coming in just under 3000 rpm. Downside though has been the mpg which has reduced by a couple ( and not, after getting used to the car simply because I drive it faster). Used to be able to squeeze 30mpg if I really tried on a run, now it's hard to even see North of 26, and more like 24-5 on average. When the tuners say the mpg is "comparable" it is, in the same way as Everest is comparable to Ben Nevis in that they are both mountains.
Would I do it again ? I expect I would settle for a stage 1 as well over 400 horses is plenty anyway, and given mine is a non tracked daily driver I really don't get the opportunity to stretch the beast's legs very often.

Not sure about the air filter, just high flow.
466.3ps and 545Nm .
I will not go for a stage 2 as i use everyday and it gives me enough fun. mine you i was not going to remap at all,
