New member, new LHD car in the UK!
Just joined the site but have been an avid looker for many months. I started looking for an RS6 C6 so started looking at that portion of the site and then slowly geared towards a an RS6 C7. The wealth of information on the site definitely got me over the edge as i had never owned an Audi before. Started looking at cars about a month ago and finally made the jump and bought a Red Misano MY14, LHD in Germany, 20 k miles and almost fully kitted. Have been enjoying it for a week across the continent. A lot of fun so far even though i have not been pushing the car as it is was quite wet and snowy and I only have third party insurance (courtesy of German export plates) but first 1200 miles have been a lot of fun. What an amazing piece of kit! Look forward to giving more comments over the next few months as i uncover all the options and push the car a bit more...
Now the car is back in the UK where I started the process to register it on UK plates. Seems a tiny bit more difficult than i thought as it seems that LED lights are a problem. Not sure if anyone has gone already thru the process of registering a LHD in the UK but if anyone did, would appreciate some insight there

The car should be type approved for europe.
The lights should also be adaptive and will know its driving on the LHS now.
I cant see any problems at all.
We have a few LHD cars here and RHD in Germany and its never been a problem.
Cheers

Indeed on my trip across to Germany in my RS6 5 weeks ago it wasn't an issue with the headlights they just use the navigation and know where they are.
But it did say on the screen reduced visibility when it first started up.

Thought so too. There is also a setting on the MMI where you can tell the car that you are driving on the left side of the road. I took the car y'tday to Audi Victoria to get them to issue a letter to say that speedo, fog light and headlights are ok according to UK regs for me to start the UK registration process and had them tell me that the function only dims the lights and is not good for long term/UK standards and they wanted to change the lights which is not ... cheap.
Am taking it to another garage tomorrow so we will see. Hoping I don't need to play around with the lights. That would be more than annoying

To be fair that's exactly what I suspected.... Speedo is fine as you can change MMI to mph or kph I would of thought?

Yes can change the analogic speed in MPH, not a problem with that. the main issue is with the headlights. Hopefully i can find a solution in the next few days w/out having to change them!
Re: New member, new LHD car in the UK!
At least you can own an LHD in the UK. In HK, you can't import one unless you have foreign diplomacy or operates a special garage and needs to justify it.

Let me rephrase, we can import one here but can't drive it on the road unless you are one of the above.
