Advanced Key

Post by HF25 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 10:50 pm

Hi all,

I am in the process of finalising my spec for order.

I am keeping it pretty basic:

Daytona Grey
Sports Exhaust
Privacy Glass
Gloss black styling pack
Parking pack
21" titanium wheels

Don't need any of the dynamic features as will not use it on track days, and standard car more than capable for public roads.

Wasn't sure about parking pack as basically paying £800 for rear view camera, but I have it now and find it pretty useful.

I had originally put on advanced key, but noted the standard spec includes "keyless go".

Can anyone help with what the difference is between the two? I've asked my dealer, but would appreciate any advice.

I'm a previous B7 RS4 saloon owner and can't wait to get back into the RS fold!!

Cheers all

Basically all A6 cars have keyless go, you start the car using a button rather than the key. Advanced key means you don't need to take the key out of your pocket to lock/unlock doors as they are sensors on the door handles. Also you can open the boot with a kicking motion underneath the rear diffuser. Handy when carrying stuff. Had it on the first one I had but not on the second. Don't really miss it as having to press the key fob isn't the hardest thing in the world. Also you always know you locked the car. However, for the cost of the car I think things like this should be standard anyway :beerchug:

2022 RS Etron GT Carbon Vorsprung - Daytona Grey - gone
2023 RS6 Avant - Daytona Grey - Current

That's great - cheers for reply.

I've got the advanced key in that case on my current A6 Allroad, I wasn't sure what extra the advanced offered.

I agree with you to be fair, whilst it's handy to open the car by just pulling the handle, it's no big deal to plip the fob on approach.

I'll probably knock it off the spec if it's not to late, as the keyless go is enough for me, but you're right about it should be standard, as well as things like the rear view camera. Pretty basic tech nowadays that much less expensive cars offer as standard or at least half the price!!

Thanks again

Cheers

Wheel Choice.....

Post by HF25 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 9:11 pm

Happy New Year All...

Been busy at work, but thanks for advice on advanced key - I have left it in the spec after all.

I am scheduled for build week 8 - and just agonising now over the wheel choice.

Didn't initially go with the gloss black wheels as thought they may be a bit "bling", but now when I look at pictures I am liking them more and more, as they do have the silver / titanium coloured front edge which breaks up the black....

I know its very much a personal choice thing - but any thoughts from those of you that have specced both the titanium and the gloss black on what you would choose given the chance again....?

Many Thanks

I can't see black wheels working with a Daytona car - especially as there are the "made for it" titanium finished wheels available. Having said that, I haven't seen two people spec their cars the same on this forum, so clearly the perfect combo is a very individual thing. (I have gone for Panther Black with black wheels).

I prefer the titanium wheels I spec'd- I went with the red callipers to give the look a little bit of a lift as it could be argued that the Daytona/Titanium combination is a bit bland (from the side on view). My son would have gone for gloss black, and just commented again today that I should have spec'd them...as you say a very personal choice!

If I had had the choice when I ordered to spec the black optics pack option then I would probably have gone Sepang Blue with the Gloss black wheels (I dislike the whole carbon look so there was no other option available to me when I ordered)

I've had both and would choose the gloss black over titanium.

1. Damn sight easier to clean, no wheel cleaner required, just clean them like you would your paint work.

2. Titanium seems to dull after a while.

3. I think they look better.

See for yourself

Wheel choice....

Post by HF25 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 10:50 pm

Cheers guys - does anyone have photos of Daytona pearl with the black wheels? I've had a good trawl through the site but only managed to find Daytona Matt with the black alloys... Seems initial feedback is to stick with titanium..
