Gents
As above, I read a link on here recently where a lead was available to plug in to back of head unit without loosing cd changer... To allow you to play music from my iPhone 6.
I have just purchased one and plugged in as shown in pics (green plug) but can't seem to get working with jack plug in iphone!!
Any help would be great.
Pics of Audi unit also.
I have selected MP3 on head unit but nothing

What firmware version do you have on your RNS-E?
It needs to be running 0650, and you need to enable the Aux In by changing the coding using e.g.
VCDS.

Thanks Dave for quick reply...
Tbf I have no idea what firmware it's running.
How do I find out?
Are there anymore in the Midlands I can take it to? I am in Nottingham.

Using an iPod touch in my B7
Select CD and start the track playing on the iPod then plug the lead into the base of the iPod and it plays just fine. No track display on head unit though.

You have a different setup to type_r_brad - you have a CD changer to aux lead, but he has a separate Aux In.

Didn't realise that, came with the car. I'm disappointed it doesn't charge my iPod Touch ,any idea if it could or would charge an iPod Classic ? I'm a 30 pin old school lead on my Touch.

You've got the Audi iPod interface, which as you say shows no track info (and reduces the iPod to 6 virtual CDs).
AFAIK the Audi interface can only charge older iPods.

Thanks for that info, any idea which IPod would charge? Was thinking if a Classic would charge it would be better than messing around with SD cards which have a limited capacity and are obsolete anyway.
Any thoughts guys?

I have the Audi interface in the glove box and it will only charge my IPod classic 160gb and before that my 120gb until I sat on it! Works fine with the classic but you have no control through the IPod - can only skip to next or previous tracks with no info displayed on either display. It does however allow total control through my IPhone 5 but doesn't charge it and was the same with an IPhone 3G before that.
In my 2004 S4 I had an aftermarket connection via a cable into the back of the Audi stereo which allowed full operation via Ipod Classic 120gb and charged it - was majorilly disappointed when I didn't have the same functionality in the RS. As my 5 only has 16gb I can't fit all my music on it so I'm in a it of a half way house. I'm due an upgrade shortly so a 6 with bigger memory may be the solution as long as I have an alterantive means of charging ie via 12v socket.

First you have to activate "aux" with VCDS. Then you get "aux" in the list when pressing "cd/tv" button. If you have like you wrote a jack in plug then it of course will only carry signal, no power (charging iPhone etc).

Thanks for that info. So if I read this correctly I could hook up an IPod classic, 30 pin connector and play tracks and it will charge and also I could control it from my iPhone 5s which sits and charges from the phone cradle?
