Need wheel help desperately

Post by swift. » Fri Mar 11, 2005 1:35 am

Hello all, I'm here in the us and in the process of doing a full rs4 body conversion on a 2001 S4 avant. Need to know what size wheels and offset everyone is running. Wheel distributers here in the states aren't familar and I'm concerned with not ordering the correct size and offset. My initial thought was a 19x9.5. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

don't know what the offset is but the wheel size is 8.5x18

you must really like the B5 RS4 looks to go through all that!

Anyone on here running larger than a 8.5 width, I would assume some of you were. What offset is appropriate? Thanks for help guys, and yes, do really love the look of the rs4...worth the conversion in my eyes.

Have a look at:

Sportec www.sportec.ch - 19 x 10

MTM www.mtm-online.de - 19 x 9.5

Isn't there going to be a difference due to it being S4 running gear as apposed to RS4.... i.e. Shouldn't you be looking for S4 figures. The stock RS4 wheels do not fit an S4.

As far as running gear, what exactly are you reffering too? As I mentioned, car is of a full rs4 conversion, ie, door pannels, fenders, sideskirts, etc. Just trying to determine what size wheels and offsets those with actual rs4s are running.

What he is saying is that even though you are changing the body panels, the suspension and drive train will remain S4, Suspension arms, drive shafts, shoxz and springs, and that RS4 wheels, standard or 19", will not fit an S4 drivetrain.

Yep, sorry I mis-read the original post.

I'm no expert but it is true to say the suspension geometry is different on the RS4 to the S4, so the bodywork is only the first step, the second step is the right suspension components and alignment.

Well all suspension components have been previously upgraded. I do know of a few people here in the states who have done this conversion, they are able to run 19x9.5 wheels. For those who have upgraded wheels could you list your offsets? Greatly appreciated.

What is different about the wheels then? The RS4's are 8.5j, are the S4 ones 8j then ?
I was under the impression that they would fit, i thought it was the offset of the wheel, being ET20, that made the wheels stickout further to fill the arches.....
I take it the stud pattern is the same......?

I have been searching for a bit more info on this........
Came across these 2 threads........
http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... rs4+wheels

and here.............

http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... rs4+wheels

So is the only issue with fitting them is the fact they stick out too farfrom a stock S4 body?
