In that case it'll suit you fine as it's probably had a good running in

Kev.S wrote:Having been in the 'trade' a number of years ago I can say that timing is important in the price a dealer is willing to let a second-hand car go for. If there has been a change of number plate recently, the dealer will have quite a lot of stock on the forecourt that has been paid for, but not sold, so their interest charges at the bank are high. The Ford dealership I worked for would see a £50 profit on a second hand car as a good deal during this period. Another good one for some Audi dealers is towards the end of the month when sales targets are approaching. A salesman would accept less than at the beginning of the month if that sale meant they won one of the 'target prizes' e.g. Caribbean holiday!

The price they advertise a car for means very little if you are part-exchanging. What really matters is the differential between the two cars. Even if a dealer appears to be asking over the odds for a car, make them what you think is a sensible offer and they might go for it, especially if the car has been in stock for some months.

100% agree with what you've said.

I always try to buy cars at the end of each quarter and consequently get the best deal possible.

Bought my previous '04 X5 4.4 sport this way and got £4k off the price and negotiated a 4 month "buy back" at £1k less than the invoice price i paid...

If this car is a non Audi Experience one it's a reasonable deal but I wouldn't pay more than £42k for it. They have bought it from an Audi UK closed auction and would have paid a very keen price for it.....about £40k, if that even.....

Thanks everybody for their help with the RS6 and especially to Gareth who has rang me twice now. Being a suspicious person, I'm still investigating the Audi Experience route and have found out a little more. I telephoned Driving Experience direct who were very helpful and are looking into my query. Their cars were used on 30 days during last year and after each days use, the cars were shipped to Oxford waiting for the next Experience day. (Oxford plate Gareth ?)

When the vehicle has finished it's stint as an Experience vehicle they are completely overhauled to bring the vehicle back to a "like new condition" A few members of the public had made enquiries after their sessions hence the reason why my contact knew what they were talking about.

I was told the TT's and S4's were used more for track work and the slalom courses and the RS6 was used more for high speed runs.

It still don't know whether it's an ex experience car, (no I wasn't stuttering) I take on board Gareth's comments on the price, but as the vehicle hasn't even reached the Dealer yet, they are reluctant to do much with the price. Still, if I do travel up to Scotland, I may be able to haggle more face to face.

I have had my M3 for 12 months now and over that period it's had a new engine, gearbox, clutch and rear screen so I used to having a rebuilt car, and no, it's not the way I drive.

I'm now waiting for more news from Audi ref what the car was used for during the last 12 months.

As a side note, I was told this morning that an RS6 was given to every Manchester United player and Audi were up at the ground today. (that will flood the market with used cars then)

And the story goes on.................

Didnt one of the players alledgedly buy a tuned RS6 from a forum member? Which if correct would not make sense if Audi had already given them all a car...

Steve

Audi are the "official" car supplier to the Scum, sorry Man Utd..and the RS6 is the car of choice.

Would you want one of Rooney's cast off's?!?!? Boot would be full of Big Mac boxes and cards for cheap Liverpool hookers...

When are you going to ser this car and has the spec been confirmed as having sat nav/TV (DVD based, not CD rom) ????

Good luck!

Hi Gareth,

I'm waiting for the Dealer to confirm the spec as soon as the vehicle arrives at their site. I don't want 18" wheels, I don't want it without the Satnav screen and I don't want black roof rails, (was an option) I do want a Milltek though, yum yum, but will have to fit that myself of course) so I have sent them a big e-mail of things to check, then if I'm happy I will drive up with the Wife to have a look, stop the night and motor back. (it's over 800 miles round trip)

If I do buy the car, I have asked Cameron's to deliver it to my house as part of the deal. If I hate the car, then my car's a 1000 miles nearer the next service

Cheers

Steve

I have been on the experience day and confirm that the RS6's are used more for high speed runs. BUT at the end of the day they offer "hot rides" which is when the instructors, who are scandinavian rally drivers, take you out in the RS6 and rag it round a track with the ABS and Traction control disabled. Whilst this is an unbelievably exhiliarating ride its probably not any good for the car.

Shop around, buy well, squeeze for a deal and be prepared to walk away! Buying cars like this makes no commercial sense, the only time when you can have any direct impact on the commercial sense of buying an RS6 is at the buying and selling, (uness you want it to sit in your living room) all other times follow your heart! experience the one vice you can afford without the wifee having a go!

My car is an ex-Audi car but the condition can only be described as mint. I was fortunate enough to be able to examine the car at the dealers the day after they got it in and before it was prep'd for sale and I couldn't find a mark on the exterior or interior, all the wheels were unmarked and still plenty left on the tyres. This contrasted to some 1-owner privately owned cars I looked at which had scuffed wheels and shagged tyres at 10k.
They must be having a clear out of RS6 Avants from Audi UK ! Mine is from them too and like you gary i saw mine the day it came in dirty and unprepped! I (for once) did not buy the first car i saw and did a bit of research on prices which are all over the place! In the end i feel i got a good honest low mileage (7k for an Aug 03) car in the colour i wanted for..PM me anyone who wants to know!.... when there were 03 cars with 30k for about the same.
I bought mine from Tonbridge audi (cant recommend them enuff!) and they still have a nov 04 car in daytona grey for 54995 now (was 58995) but that was a bit steep inmho unless of course dvd sat nav is a must!!

I finally did it, I bought the infamous Misano red RS6 - Goodbye beemer, hello Audi. I kept it quiet until the deal was done.

First impressions are very good, it doesn't go around corners like an M3, but not bad for a barge he he he. It feels quicker than my old car and that's with all of my family on board. I've yet to drive it on my own. The Dealer gave me a bottle of champagne which the Wife and I have already polished off, so no night driving for me this evening.

Thanks for everybody's comments, it looks like you're stuck with me now.

Cheers

Steve
