Soft box yet there's some close and some over 1000bhp with around 1200,1300 nm torque if not more. Handling all that power not soft at all and as doodlebug said not heard about any failing ?. You and the RS6 must have had a falling out or dispute you don't seem to think they're as good as they are. And the C7 box for what it is it's great quick and suits the car perfectly again handling high power and torque.

Also not forgetting the torque but going through 4wd... At least with rwd that kind of torque will just spin out the rear wheels which takes a lot off the drivetrain. With good old Quattro the box takes a punishing so 1000nm isn't to be sniffed at

With the torque converter it's easier on the mechanical parts.

A lot of modern torque converters lock over a certain point to reduce losses

So may be but the initial torque peak difference from 0-X Nm is handled by hydraulic fluid...

Still a regular slush box & the C6 had a soft box too. Agree however that the new ZF is an improvement over the previous incarnations, but then it couldn't have been worse:)
Soft box? You're confusing the C5 and C6 gearboxes, the C6 boxes are tough, and even with serious abuse seem impossible to break.

Quite the opposite as loved my C5 RS6 & i think the C7 RS6 is an epic machine having driven a few on extended drives.

I had 2 boxes go pop on my C5 RS6, the 1st was pre-tune & the 2nd post tune (mine was IIRC 590bhp & 570lbsft). Drove several C6's & really disliked the box in those so stayed away from that model & yes several i know of had transmission issues & a few of those were on here.

The C7 is undeniably the best RS6 to date & as i've said several times i was fairly close to ordering one, but the whole package just didn't feel quite right & to be honest i also fancied a change as have owned a lot of Audi's over the years. I'm not a fan of & don't need an estate car, i much prefer the styling of saloons (my C5 RS6 & B7 RS4 were both saloons). The Lease/CH deals available on the M5/RS6 when i needed to change car were poles apart, which for 2 premium models at the same OTR price was ludicrous & not far off double which meant the RS would have cost me twice as much as an alternative car with the same OTR price & that would have been an insane move. The standard kit on the M5 was also better so to option the RS up to the same levels would have been another £7-8k.

Lastly & this of course is my personal opinion, although the C7 RS6 is unbelievably quick off the line it felt a little detached in a similar way my GT-R did, this being the clever software mated with the AWD etc. gave repeatable performance with little driver intervention. I'm certainly not saying this is a bad thing, just something i didn't fancy again as have done point & squirt so this time i opted for a more involving experience. I also like to track my cars & although i've not driven a C7 RS6 on track i felt that my experiences on road would be further exaggerated on track.
