grrr...ipod and playback position.

Post by moonigan » Tue Nov 11, 2014 10:25 am

I have a really annoying issue with my iPod connected to the car. Each time the car is left for more than a few hours it forgets the playback position and starts from the beginning again. I'm using a 5th Gen ipod nano like this.

This was sitting around in the drawer at home because the control wheel doesn't work properly so you cant use the menu button. Perfect I thought. Load it up with music stick it in the car, job jobbed. A bit of research suggests that models prior to 5th gen suffered from this issue where they would lose the "Now Playing" and playback position. However this also happens when you connect the ipod to a computer and affects newer models as well.

Can anyone confirm if the problem exists with other ipods or old iPhones. I don't want to buy something from flee bay only to find its got exactly the same issues.

Cheers
Paul

Mine does the same but it's hit or miss. I also find it really slow when navigating. I have a Ipod 160GB. I only have 9-10Gb of music on it.

Bluetooth might be a better option ......

But I'm a bit more old fashioned ......I do SD card ....find it's perfect for uploading music and videos to...and also super quick to navigate.
I usually rip music and videos straight from you tube onto the SD card and the quality is good enough for me.

I found an old iPhone 4s with a cracked screen and broken button that my daughter used to use and loaded this up with some music yesterday. Connected it up and when I got in the car this morning it picked up from where it left yesterday. :jump_clap: So it looks like its a problem with iPods (Certainly older ones).

Best solution is to scure your ipod in a vice and repeatedly hit it with a hammer then by a Sd card and upload all your music asa mp3s job done

SD cards and the Audi player tend not to like continuous mixes and put an annoying gap between each track. That was the case in 2007 when I had an A5. It may have changed since and if so I'd consider it.
