RS4 - Built in Lap Timer....

Post by gavsteryoung » Tue Mar 01, 2005 1:20 pm

Found this snipit..... sounds interesting....

"The cockpit in RS design incorporates a lap timer in the driver information system, thus offering useful assistance for the really ambitious driver of the RS 4 trying out his car on the race track."

One should never time one's laps on a trackday ;-) as if anyone would :-)

Just a guess, but it's probably something to do with liability insurance as it could be perceived as a time trial event and in breech of the licence they have with the regulating authority that governs them and signs the track off for competitve use.

What would be good is if they made full use of the current technology that is available to them, something similar to an 'Alfano Pro' into the DIS would be great, as it records things like engine revs, tempartures, and lap and split times by using the magnetic strips that are inlayed into the racetrack, this can then be all downloaded through a link cable to your pc/notebook/handheld.

I didn't think Audi had ever said that? I think BMW may have done for a while.

Anything is possible. Especially with Audi testing all their new technology. Come on, I wouldn't be surprised. Would you?
