RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
I think that many Europeans would choose the RS4 B5 over the RS4 B7 while many Americans would choose the RS4 B7 over the RS4 B5. I have a feeling that the Europeans don't like how the new Audi was made because it might have been made as an "American" car. The Americans never even had a chance to get their hands on a B5 and probably like the newer, more sleaker B7.

RE: RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
I think you should read some other posts. The answer to that question has been made very clear, and pretty much unanimously! In fact, even seeing a pretty airbrushed new saloon against a CG background compared to a B5 in a wet Edinburgh car park wouldn't change my mind.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

RE: RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
That is not true. Many of my friends who are also dealers over in the U.K. still prefer the RS4 B5 over the RS4 B7 after driving both of them. Some say that the B5 is a faster feeling car while some say that they like the drive of the B7 more. I still don't know how I feel about it yet, but EVERYONE LIKES THE NEW DESIGN ON THE B7!

So you say your friends have already driven the B7 RS4. How so ??
And which part of Bob's post is not true (in your opinion) ?

RE: RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
I have a friend in the U.K. who was able to test drive the Audi RS4 B7 because he works for Audi's production line. He was not able to release all the information I wanted but did tell me that there were some parts of the B5 that he actually like better. Bob's post was inaccurate because he says that the question was answered pretty clearly, however, it wasn't. I'm not saying he shouldn't have an opinion, but he should not say that the question was made clear. In my opinion, I would definitly take the B7 over the B5 as of now. I think the B7 is a more capable, better looking car.

Not sure why I got multiple posts there, sorry people.
Your mate is a lucky guy, especially if he is in the UK and works on the production line.
His is the only persons opinion I have heard so far who claims to have driven both.
To me the B7 is not such a significant step forward to make me want to sell my B5 and add another ~20k GBP to it to get the 'latest & greatest'.
I get the impression most other current owners are saying the same. Those who do not own a B5 and can afford the new one seem to prefer the latter.
To be honest I couldn't give a monkeys. There will always be a newer better car at some stage. The same will be true of the B7 in time. So it has some things people don't like. My sugestion is, don't buy it then. As I have said elsewhere I expect it will still sell regardless of what we think.
I have no intention of buying one, but would still like to get a drive when they are available just to see what 4 years development improvements have done.
Cheers,
John.

RE: RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
John, I hear you 100%. I have been in a B5 and think it is great, however, I live in the U.S., which makes it significantly harder to obtain a B5. I have been following the production of the B7, and am crazed over it. I think it is a great car. I agree with you about selling a B5 for the B7, but since I do not have a B5, I am going to put my money into the B7 spending not too much, probably around $55,000. I think that is a great price for this car, with accessories. If I had a B5, I would not sell it for the B7, but I don't, so the B7 is mine.

I know the B5 was 6039 made, making it rare, since that number was for the whole world. Audi has made 2035 just for the U.S. which is why I am thinking it will hit big here. The B5 would have been excellent in the U.S.A. but it was not able to get here unless imported by a consumer. The B7 will be at dealers Nationwide. I am definitly going to get my hands on one. I can't wait!

I do smell a modicum of farmyard too
Can we stick to fact rather than fiction

RE: Re: RE: RS4 B5 vs. RS4 B7
NO. HAHA! I am willing to pay more for this car. I do have some connections within Audi that will drop the price significantly. I will find out soon enough how much it will be.
