Gearbox- Becoming Harsh?

Post by feeltheburn » Tue Nov 04, 2014 7:20 pm

I am a little worried that I might be experiencing a gearbox issue. Around 2500miles in and there is a discernible "leap forward" when the gearbox changes up or down, most noticeable 1-2-3:3-2-1. Also when COD changes to from 4/8/4 you can feel it through the seat that it has done so. If I put the box into sport then the up change 2-3 is pretty harsh. If I thrash it then all seems fine :D , however when cruising around town, the gear changes are far from smooth in D or in S. Maybe it has always been like this, but the car now seems to be difficult to drive smoothly in a 30 or 40 zone. Throttle seems to be more on/off than progressive. Light pressure nothing much happens, a slight bit more pressure and then it takes off.

So my question is, those out there with a RS6 C7, is this something you have noticed? I am enjoying everything about the car, it is the best thing I have ever purchased, however the harsh/leaping gear changes are taking the shine of things a bit.

(Should have said that it is most noticeable when the car is cold, however still there when up to temperature)

Fingers crossed its fine or nothing major take in to local dealer. But i do remember could have nothing to do with this but when i was ordering pfl and books closed and they did not mention facelift at all my dealer told and showed me an email he received about problems with the gearbox. Whether that was RS6 related a6 or allroad i do not know but thats what i heard way back dont hold me to it could have nothing to do wit the RS6.

I don't remember the gearbox being harsh at all, very smooth really. I do remember manual changes being a bit laggy sometimes which is why I preferred the M5 gearbox for manual.

One thing I do remember was the car was a little "lurchy" from a cold start. I work very close to a fast main road and you have no choice other than to put your foot down sometimes even when cold. The car seemed fine for the first couple of thousand miles but oddly became unhappy as it became more run in at around 5000 miles.

6000 miles in and I find automatic car settings is pants.

Use the MMI and select comfort for everyday and it is pretty damn fine. Gearbox most of the time is sweet as a nut. Put it in dynamic for fun.

I use individual to get the exhaust tone on at all times though. But it still seems louder in Dynamic.

Few others kicking around.
