Re: Stone chip protection
I was quoted circa. £1800 for full front protection. How does the film stand up vs. paintwork for shiny-ness?
Re: Stone chip protection
Looks great!!!
Re: Stone chip protection
Do you have a closer pic as the video Lanre put up makes the paintwork look like a bad wrap up close and I was wondering if that was just the way it was shot.
Re: Stone chip protection
Dropped m
y car into matt at airstream today,he did a great job with the 3m film
He started at 10 and finished at 6
Very professional service, no more stone chips from now on
Tbh you can hardly notice it's on the car, was impressed with the gloss on the film
Will post some close up shots when the cars clean in daylight

Re: Stone chip protection
Njce one mate....I guarantee guarantee you that will be the best money you spend on the car
Re: Stone chip protection
Good work Silas.
How much of the car did you get covered in the end? And roughly how much did it cost? I'm glad there is a way to stop picking up stone chips as my cars always end up riddled with chips (probably driving too close to other cars on the motorway). Think I'll get my front end painted then covered now!
I assume it is like a wrap and goes all the way to the edge of the panel ? I went to see a Porsche at the weekend and when I 1st looked at it closely it looked like it had been painted with a paint brush then I realised it had a clear protection wrap / coating. It stopped short of the edges with like a 5mm gap around all the edge. And some of it had started to peel. And nearly all panels when looked at cloesly were the same as the 1st one I looked at and looked painted or had tiny bubbles.

Re: Stone chip protection
Hi mate, the wrap does the front bumper and splitter first 1/4 of wings and the front of the wing mirrors, tbh sounds like the Porsche was poorly fitted.... you can get bubbles!! They need to be worked out, or pierced with a hypodermic needle, my car cost £500
Re: Stone chip protection
Yeah, the Porsche was definitely poorly fitted. £500 is a bargain for saving the paintwork!RIV wrote:Hi mate, the wrap does the front bumper and splitter first 1/4 of wings and the front of the wing mirrors, tbh sounds like the Porsche was poorly fitted.... you can get bubbles!! Plan to get my front end done next year so will be looking to to put this over the new paint.
Are they in Essex Riv? Found somewhere online but wanted to make sure it's the same place.

Re: Stone chip protection
One thing I would say to anyone thinking of having this done, is if your car is a bright colour! Get the whole bonnet wrapped as you will see the line across the bonnet once it gets dirty, my car is going back in for this to be done
Re: Stone chip protection
How long will the film last, I don't have a garage so is sat outside in the sun/rain etc so I'm guessing it's going to degrade. Is it hard to remove?
I'm getting the front of mine resprayed in the spring as it's totally fooked, I think this film sounds like a good idea to get this film fitted soon after to keep it nice.
