Latest update from my Dealer .. RS6 Pricing and spec scheduled to be released late October, On-line Configurator similar timing. Rumours of a RS6+, order will be taken then, any orders "with dealers" will be first in Q

I have left my deposit with them, however told them I am in process of organising test drives / loans on both the Panamera GTS and also the Tesla S. I pointed out that out of the 3 the RS6 was probably the cheapest (just) and that all 3 had similar deliveries, so that it was would be "the finer points of the sale" which would swing things in a particular way. October will be my decision month of where I go

Yesterday Tesla have hinted at an announcement on the 9th October which they are referring to as the "D" .. most folk reckon this could be a AWD Tesla S

Tonbridge Audi (or could be Tunbridge Wells Audi now as its just moved location) had in the showroom a Phantom black with gloss black wheels, sunroof, tinted windows, silver leather - at least these were the obvious options - plus I'm sure its got more options spec'd as they tend to go a bit heavy on the box ticking. May be worth giving them a call.

I had a call from Audi CS yesterday and told similar thing. Well, he started off by telling me end of September for pricing etc.. but when I pointed out its the 1st Oct, he corrected himself - so not sure if he was reading off a sheet or he misspoke.
Like yourself, I have left deposit with dealer so fingers crossed that by May(!) in a new car.

I work from home, if I do go into the office its a round trip of 100 miles, so easy covered by the claimed 330 mile (250 more realistic) range. If I have to head up to Donnington its "right" on the 300 ish mile round trip, but as expected FormulaE office has charging points so I can charge up there.

the tesla is a great car for it's intended job however there's no getting away from the range aspect.
Tesla quote themselves that on a motorway @70mph the top spec battery unit will last 215miles. As above, I would say that is optimistic (no different to petrol cars I guess) so would put that at 180 miles.
Assuming that you pretty much deplete the whole battery even using a 22kw three phase with twin chargers then you are looking at a 4 1/2 hour wait in order to get home.

I'd say for 60-80% of people it would work fine and is a viable option. the only long term problems I can see is that is people start charging their cars at home the draw on the local grids will be huge!

As an aside, it's 450 quid a year to service... considering limited moving parts that's pretty expensive!

Without wanting to go miles off piste, the electric bit is fine. The battery bit is not. Batteries are as much an earth raper as crude. Until we get a workable hydrogen cell solution batteries as just a fad.
