Stone chip protection

Post by RIV » Sat Sep 27, 2014 11:05 am

After washing the car today I noticed a stone chip on the bonnet, seeing as the car is over a year old with no other visible marks I guess I have been lucky, I was thinking of getting the front end wrapped, any advice on products and a fitters would be much appreciated

That self healing wrap would probably be best based on a thread on here.

Mint condition

Great reputation, several i know have used them and they are different class.

They have a Facebook page too, check em out.

The laser cut kit for R8 which is full bumper and front 1/3 bonnet, all you need, especially for a B8

I looked into it when buying my car and a front end respray wasn't much more....but I expect Riv Blue isn't as cheap as standard colours.

The trouble is with a respray the paint is never as good as factory, I had my b7 done twice in 5 years to keep it mint,I have my car booked in for the self healing 3m film
This should keep it good for many years!!
This is the company I'm using

completely miss the point of a shield by saying a respray isn't much more

for one, shielding my R8 via airstream cost £500 ..... front end respray of bumper and bonnet of an R8 is prob c£2k for a proper job

then, one trip to the ring on the autobahns in convoy at 175mph and thats the front end f.ucked.

talking from experience....Imola RS 5, bought with 11k on the clock, minter than mint ... had it detailed at Drayke Fields, not a mark on it

Drove it to Spa and Ring with a convoy of 305 rear section R8's spitting up all sorts ... arrived at Spa and the front end was mullered, ruined.

Roll on to last month, my shielded R8 does the same trip to Ring/Spa ... first wash since the trip on the weekend just gone, inspect the car and front end is spotless !

Good work Silas, wise investment, peace of mind and will keep it looking showroom

and Matt will look after you

Not at all.
I just feel passionately that it's a no brainer investment to keep the car looking perfect.
