Considering fitting a whipple supercharger

Post by RIV » Mon Sep 22, 2014 8:59 pm

I'm seriously considering taking the plunge after going out in Kim collins's charged rs5
The power delivery is amazing and turns the b8 into an awesome beast capable of taking out some serious cars
There's is literally zero charge noise with very smooth power, with massive torque on tap.
Am I mad for even contemplating this move? my car is looked after by a very well respected tuner so any warranty work is delt with by them

You kind of know my thoughts, the gearbox in the B8 makes the car less of an event due to being so capable. The supercharger sorts that out and with an external colour that is as loud as yours, it'd finally have the iron fist to back it up.

My only other thought is: what's the competition like and with a modification that exclusive you'll probably never know the answer.

I have to agree with your comments Sam, I've sort of made my mind up on this, just waiting for a deal on one to come off.
For me with that power nothing comes close in that size avant atm
Cars got the colour the ramics just need the charger then it's complete- minus rear ceramics

If ever there was a car screaming out for the charger, it's yours
I think I'll join you possibly 12months in to my new one

Kim's car is certainly a convincing package

However, as good as Kim's car is and as good a tuner as he is, I'd possibly look around too
Do MRC do a kit ?

MRC will fit the same kit, but I'm after a certain persons charger for a deal
And feel his put a lot of time in the setup of his car, and to me has the balance sorted

To be fair to Kim, he seemed very open minded to any manufacturer and held no alliance. I did ask about a Rotrex system for the B8 but if I recall correctly he said that there was not one yet in development. They've only just developed a twin system for the R8?

Riv, have you spoken to any of the chaps on the B8 '5 forum that have an SC? I guess they'd have some feedback on day to day living with it fitted?

I am assuming it's the same £12k option shown on their site that produces 640 brake?
It's all torque talk.

I'd hang fire it's still relatively new. Dig deeper search for others that have been done and the owners thoughts. I ended up buying 3 various supercharger kits before I landed on the correct one.

If there was ever an RS4 that needed a blower, it's yours. Madness not to consider it...

Do it!
