In my experience though, these ex demo RS models do sell, and for whatever they're listed at. Some people just aren't bothered. I had someone order an RS 7 late last night, we sat down and added loads of spec (fun spending someone else's money), he didn't ask for a dime off.

I thought it might be worth just mentioning this:

I had seriously considered tuning my RS6 but dropped the idea in the end. My main concern was whether the gearbox could handle much more than the stock spec of 700Nm of torque.

According to ZF (in some email correspondence I had) the RS6 C7 has a ZF 8HP55AHIS gearbox (A = All wheel drive, HIS refers to the stop/start function). I was initially pretty surprised about this because, according to some tables on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZF_8HP_transmission, this gearbox is only rated to 550Nm! I got back in touch with ZF and asked them about this discrepancy.Whilst I was waiting for that response I came across this page:

http://www.zf.com/corporate/en/products ... sion.shtml

Which states that the 8HP55A has a rated "input" torque of 650Nm.

ZF came back to me and said that from the 6HP series onwards the numbers after the HP part don't correlate properly to the torque rating and that this ZF box is capable of 800Nm "plus". Of course this is considerably more than the indicated torque value on their own website but the car itself produces 700Nm so the website is probably incorrect....

In the end I decided that regardless of who was correct... modding the power was probably not worth the cost and risk.

Hmmmm. If anything give it some time see what people think if anything goes wrong which I don't think it will. Can you not get a MTM remap etc tuning kit as it will still remain under warranty I know of this as I spoke to someone ??.

MTM maps won't keep the car in warranty, not in the UK at least. The C7 defiantly doesn't feel as brutal and savage if you're coming from a stage two C6, I'd personally have to map it if I ever owned one. The best bit for me is the monster backfire gunshot noise on downshift with the sports 'zorst.

What is the C6 "official" torque limit in gearbox?

Some cars are running over 1000nm for thousands of miles with no issues?

Just saying!!

QST said it would just going off what I was told. MTM cantroinic or something or other, and I also had a stage 2 RS6 and locally the new one immediately felt quicker but was lacking in top end. But was real quick and would be savage once mapped.

I think both gearboxes will hack it and the C6 is living proof for itself atleast. If we were all worried about issues all be rolling in 572 BHP C6's but were not. I think the C7 will be just as strong only time will tell.
