Please help me decide...
Hi All
Bit of an off topic, so I hope you can let me leave it here for a couple of days as I need the RS4 guys help!!! (having the Angel & Devil in my head trying to decide!)
Any chance you guys can give me an honest opinion and help me decide which wheel to choose for my 996Turbo (Black car)
Did also like the Kahn 2pc wheel, but to my horror found out that it was nearly double the weight of the standard wheel, so that's a no go!!!
Either Techart Silver, Techart Black (Polished lip) or the Sportec

Techart silver I reckon....Sportecs look good, but some people have bent them on RS4's....maybe that's not a problem on your 911TT though...
The black ones are too bling IMHO...
PS..Moved the thread to the general car section as it has nowt to do with RS4s...

You know fine well I have just helped Lengster buy my old car, and coming out with that is a bit touchy not only for me but him!
Have you looked back at your recent comments on Revo? (I have!)
Plus what you posted is a load of rubbish!
Any increase in boost levels whether it is AMD, REVO, MTM, etc, etc, will have an effect on the lifespan of the Turbo!!! (abuse and lose)
I'm sorry mate I might be a little hot headed but your always unsubtle with some of your comments and it ain't the first time (look back at some of your posts!)

Definately tech silver, why have such a nice car and ruin it with "gangsta trim" Go for black if you want to do some drive by shootings.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Sportec look the dogs danglies both stationary and when in motion but they are a VERY heavy wheel, if you haven't got a stiff suspension setup then they may cause a crashy ride on standard springs as they will be tailored for the standard wheels. Even if you do have a stiff setup, your still carrying a lot of unsprung weight around with them. Certainly on the rs4 neither the standard suspension or the gmbh kit worked very well with the Sportecs imho, the extra weight and size (19x10 v's 18x8.5) also causes the fronts to crash into the inner plastic wheel arches wearing them away. As for them bending, I would say any you run a higher risk with any rim over 17" on our crappy roads regardless of design or material of manufacture.
Weight would be the biggest factor in my desicion now for any vechile, then the design would be chosen from what I could afford....

Plenty is better.

Howdy Tarmac
Sportec 19" is only 1lb heavier over the stock 18" (left details in work) but they are one the lightest, the Techarts are only 4/5lb heavier than stock!
The shocker was Kahn wheels, these are nearly double the weight over the rears 44lb (standard is 26lb) that is a massive difference, when I called supplier they knew exactly what to say because of the heavier wheel, they said it's ok beacause you have 450 bhp (without me mentioning it was heavy!!!)

Sportecs for me then out of those 3 then cos they look so good. Your stock wheels must be quite heavy?RS4_STEVO wrote:Howdy Tarmac

you could always go for a lightweight set of magnesium alloys but you'll be looking at least another grand on top of the sportecs and will probably be an 18" wheel again. lots of different designs around if you look, one example of these-

Do the sportecs, but have them sprayed the black colour of your 996. Leaving a silver rim surround that is 1 option.
2nd option. spray the spokes black and the rest silver..Something different for the beast...
