It's my new Team MoMo racing stripe! :biggrin3:

It's actually new side trims as the others were broken, and when I painted them, the lacquer had a reaction to the paint... they are off the car again and getting repainted this week...

It was a bit of a nightmare....not sure how it went so wrong.... lol

Here are some after shots after the detail at Defined Details in Glasgow. Truly excellent results, I can't recommend Gordon enough.

Looks terrific!

I've been looking at getting mine detailed by Defined details. Mine is in a bit of a state after family duties and general paint neglect for the last 2 years!

How long did it take and what options did you go for? If you could PM me how much I'd be looking at a job like this it would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

That looks stunning, the paint looks wet still! I *wish* daytona looked that good but grey will always be a bit bland compared to the darker colours.

Many thanks Guys. It really was a night and day transformation.

Ian - I really like Grey too, has more of a "technology" look if that makes sense.

Daytona comes up beautifully after a detail. You need to use the right wax/sealant though, to show the flake in the paint. In sunlight you get flashes of silver, purple, yellow. Just got to keep it clean somehow ...

Very impressed with the job by Defined Details. Car looks better than new!

Bah, it was all going so well.

Now the car is slipping in second gear when the transmission fluid is warmed up, and when more than minimal throttle is used.

I've booked the car into Unit 20 to get sorted. Really looking forward to getting it back to 100%.

IanH755 has been great in recommending other bits to get changed when it is in, like the EGRs, oil/water cooler bobbin, Lambdas and oil feed pipes.

Anything else? Thermostat perhaps? The alternator was changed a couple of years ago, but I'll get that checked out.

The cambelt was changed in December. Worth getting that changed seeing the engine is out? Will benefit from a few extra months come change time.

Tis all about the monies. If you don't mind throwing it at the car then yeah, get a full cambelt change, alternator, engine oil pipes, wagners .......
Have a word with Grizz before you book in and see what he would recommend changing while the engine is out.

i guess this is the thing with these cars, one day all is great and you're loving it then next day the gearbox self-destroys... :audibash: , this is the turning point of for most RS6 C5 owners, the point where you decide whether to fix it and keep it or fix it and then quickly sell it afterwards so you don't get again to the self-destruction point...good luck with your choice and if you do want to hold on to it then do as many things now that you can afford and that Unit 20 says to, they'd know better...

who ever goes through this more than a couple of times should be canonized for bearing with this machine :biggrin3:
2004 RS6 by ABT, madly in love with it, RNS-E, ST coilovers, new TC, 19x9x29 RS4 B7 wheels, non-resonated Milltek w/blk tips, TBC....SOLD - but never to be forgotten!
2004 RS6 ebony schwarz, SE exhaust, 19'' rims - SOLD
'09 RS6 C6 - the great white - now, this means business!
