Sorry mate, don't know, but I'm pretty sure it has chains and not belts.

Have a look here for a guide on normal service costs from an independent.

Hell no. Doing some research for non mechanically minded lady driver friend of mine called Tom.

So Porsche dont have the 'big belt service' like ours do? Oh.. so why dont we use chains too?

Thanks for info, sorry to miss the Windsor meet too.

Since he's a lady driver I guess he won't get his hands dirty.

The two main services are 12 and 24.
The 12 changes the oil and ONE of the oil filters (it has 2).
Also the pollen filters and air filter get changed.

The 24 changes oil, both filters, and ther plugs.
Don't ask me why they don't do both filters every year
The plugs are a bitch to do yourself, and have a long book time too.
Also the belts should be checked or changed. These belts run the alternator and the cooling fan (and aircon if it has it).

You can buy a 'self service' kit from Porsche that has all the parts to do the job yourself for less than a oner (excludes oil - not cheap as they take around 9 litres of the stuff !).

I do my own oil services and just get porsche to do a safety check for peace of mind and to get the stamp.

It is imperative that he asks if the alignment has been checked. The 993 suspension is fully adjustable, and they are very sensitive to any changes. Some garages suggest this should be checked yearly. I got mine checked when I got it, and again the following year. It hadn't moved and the car handles no different so I haven't bothered since. The first time the adjustments they made were noticeable though.

If he does buy one he will discover the headlights are pants. I can provide details of how to fit low beam hids though  (personally fitted 3 or 4 and provided fitting details to around a dozen uk owners).

There are a few other pointers and 'nice to do' items I can suggest. If he buys it mail me and I'll give him the run down.

Oh, when your shopping watch the specs. Sports seats are more desirable than comfort seats. Grey leather shows wear more, and aircon isn't much benefit over the basic heating (all are expensive to replace if they go wrong !).

I should add I'll be looking to sell mine shortly :bigblink:

he's found a UK 50k mile targa 26 grand, which is cheap. says it looks clean - the only thing he noticed was a squeaking from the rear over speed bumps. He said: "They (what ever 'they' are) probably just need oiling" Which I thought was funny.

To be fair he says its FPSH, new clutch, discs and tyres. I'm just jealous, he's a jammy git and has probably bagged a bargain.

PS what are you selling?
