Rev limiter?

Post by Amosu » Wed Feb 23, 2005 12:59 pm

Is there a rev limiter in the B6 S4?

Was travelling along the other day with my music blaring when I found a 911 coming up fast behind me. Not one to shirk my duty of giving it my all, I changed down and off we went... so busy was I focusing on my mirror, I suddenly found the car slow slightly and realised I needed to change up LOL

Don't wanna screw up my engine, so am wondering if there is a rev limiter fitted to prevent it over revving?

Yes theres is and it's quite "nice" when it comes in so is not that obvious. It's at around 7200rpm.

Thanks - nice to know that if I do that again I shouldn't rip my engine to shreds :p

Also means I might let my wife drive it... :o

Yes, I've hit the limiter a number of times whilst gunning it (concentrating on the road too much!), and it is indeed one of the mildest cut outs I've experienced, really does feel like it's doing it's job properly (thank God  ).

Rev limiter far too easy to hit in first. The first to second shift is the only one I like an auto for.
