hi,
i was just wandering how many people still have the original factory fitted alarm on there cars? I know the insurance companys are happy with it but what are the views of the owners themselves? I know WE think ALOT MORE of our cars than the insurance companys!!!!
Audi standard Fit Alarm
RE: Audi standard Fit Alarm
I do. I know that the volume of the alarm is totally inadequate, but I have not bothered uprating it because I can't really see the point.

As it is Cat 1 approaved, there is little point in changing it as you are not going to get any better... and you can change the siren....
RE: Audi standard Fit Alarm
How? I know this is a thing many want to do but since the siren is integral to the alarm unit no one I know has figured it out. Now more cars also have canbus it seems to be even tougher.

The siren is a four wire unit, I was able to get one installed without too much issue, although It was done by an alarm specialist in belfast...........

RE: Audi standard Fit Alarm
I updated the siren to siren(s) on my S4, although I guess the alarm is different, even if it has a four wire siren, which to me would suggest some sort of serial encrypted comms you could still get a signal from the wire that flashes the indicators perhaps?
As Simon says, should be easy to get an alarm specialist to sort it, else with a little ingenuity should be possible to do it yourself. (I managed to upgrade the one on the wifes Saxo using a mini microphone etc....)
Good luck
