That's the original foam/oil filter it looks like to me. The new version is a dry paper one I believe. You should be able to get this from either Revolution or Pipercross. Contact Revolution first and they can either sell you one or give you the part number from Pipercross.

Yes. Sell the intake, and reinstall the stock airbox. Your car will be faster and you won't have this issue.

There's a few reasons all of the fastest rs4s use the stock airbox. It's not a coincidence.

If I wanted to drive a quicker car I'll take my Peugeot 106 out and make the rs4 look like it's got it's handbrake stuck on ;)

I want this as much for the noise and under bonnet looks as anything else :)

I've spoken to Adam (Revolution) this morning and he's going to get Glenn to speak to me later (busy at the moment otherwise would help now).

I've soaked/cleaned the filter in warm water and there was quite a bit of crud that came out so it might as suggested above, be a combination of not enough filtration/too dirty/oily filter etc. God knows right now.

Apparently the later 3 stage filters aren't oiled from pipercross like the older 2 stage filters are, and whilst "slightly" more restrictive due to their three stages provide a happier environment for the MAF's due to the lack of oil treatment. Adam believed, as others in the thread have mentioned, that I might have the older style filter and that's a contributing factor.

Either way, hopefully Glenn can help me stop killing MAF's! Big thanks to Adam @ Revolution so far though for being patient with me!

+1 - the case across all the PiperCross ones and for me suits as it's a tad more MAF friendly...

Hi All

Hi have read this thread with great interest TBH, here is my current take on it.

Firstly, no offence is intended as this is me merely offering my tuppenceworth of a view as the supplier.

Approx a year ago we were told that our impregnated filters were absolutely causing MAF failures. At that time
neither we or Pipercross really believed this was likely to be the case. Despite this we (with Pipercrosses support)
offered to swap any filters that had caused issues. We even swapped some that were bought second hand as a
gesture of goodwill. All kits sold from that point were sold with the dry filters.

Now we are hearing that the dry filters are causing MAF failures - As the supplier I have spoken at length today
with Pipercross and they do not really believe that any of these issues (wet or dry) are filter related.

However they are willing to investigate the issue further. If someone on here has a filter they feel is degrading
and causing this issue and they are willing to return the cone to Pipercross the will get the filter tested to see
if there is a genuinely an issue with the product.

Pm or email me if you are willing/able to return your cone for testing.

All the above being said, you know where I am so feel free to contact me any which way you feel and I will endeavor to
help as best I can.

P.S For reference the dry filters are white on the inside and the oiled are black.

I emailed you Glenn but am yet to receive a reply (or a phone call which is what I was told you guys would do). I would have kept this to email if I'd had a reply but... :/

I don't care if I have to pay. I made this clear I my phone call this morning. I want to not have my MAF's ruined - regardless of the reason. I want a new filter if the filter is at fault. I understand because I bought it second hand I deserve no loyalty from you. What I need is a reliable car, not one that is broken and unusable in the garage like mine currently is.

So - I'm happy to return the filter that's currently on my intake, but I'll need a replacement so I can use the car whilst you guys do whatever it is you will do to diagnose the issue. If you can arrange that, great - happy to help diagnose the issue. If you can't, then I guess the standard airbox is my only alternative.

:/
