Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Just wonderings whether folks are still taking their B7's to the main dealers ? I'm an 07 at 55k and just wondering if its worth it any more.
Current thinking is that I might move to Brookspeed at Eastleigh for servicing.
Be interested to know what everyones doing now?

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
I found that if I supplied my own oil, filters etc to the dealers it cost me just under £100 more than if I went to an indi.
IMO for the sake of £100 I would rather keep the dealer stamp in the book for the re-sale value.

Exactly my line of thinking. Audi a pretty good with out of warranty contributions if there is a full Audi service history and low mileage.

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Just had mine done at Audi, oil service £106 and supplied my own oil.
Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
I broke away from Audi once the warranty expired, just used good indi's
Sold mine 6 months back with 67k on the clock for just under 22k
Just because it's Audi doesn't mean it's better, some techs are crap TBH

Mine hasn't been near an Audi dealer for the last 4 years, the local dealers (Southampton and Portsmouth) are cr*p for sales & servicing (SOuthampton parts guys are great though) so I use an indi in Totton who really knows and cares.

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
I'm in the same situation, mines up for its 50k service,I've sourced the oil myself so the dealer only is providing a filter,Hull want 260 basically for labour to change the oil and give it a check over,it borders outrageous for such a basic task and a visual inspection.I can't really believe the full price of 400 notes either if they charged roughly double the going rate for castrol oil.York have come in at 200 which I may go for but I think for the last time, what really brought it home was the fact you can get 3 years complete servicing on a new bmw for the price of 1 audi oil service

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Southampton quoted me £740 for oil service plus plugs and pollen filter.
Now I know the genuine plugs and oil are not cheap but that, in my view is taking the f'ing P

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Lincoln Audi told me that they'd price match any local indi's. Might be worth an ask if you were interested in keeping the stamp
Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
Audi have a nationwide price match scheme on....not sure it applies to RS cars thou, but worth asking.
I took the Mrs A4 Cab to Tamworth Audi today. Bought a service plan for £299 which covers x1 interim and x1 major service. Can't argue with that!

Re: Servicing - Is it time to go independent
£740 for a service!!! The materials are around £200,they want to make over 500 quid on a 2-3 hour basic full service is bordering theft imo, theres no way you will retain that cost on resale of an 7 or 8 yr old car of which many are sub £20k now.
