Ross, I would agree with you regarding the 441 figure. Equally they are different dyno's at different times, under different conditions so you can't compare one against the other accurately. 398 stock doesn't sound bad at all though. But as Neil said, you're going to love it on the way home.

Regarding the other items, it's just wear and tear buddy so don't be too harsh on the previous owner. It's unlikely he knew. It also sounds like he tried to do everything he could to keep in good shape. He may well have made c.398 on MRC's dyno the very day of the carbon clean. Don't sweat it too much, at least you know it's everything that has been done now.

Thanks Marc :)

I'm only really miffed about the strut - Dougs had to fit a new one because (his words) the old one had been attacked with air tools and chisels and was ruined. That's a £600 strut by the way - not a small part! Other than that, totally accept the rest is wear and tear (and goodies!)

You're quite right of course - I'm mega excited to have the drive home!

Yeah I'd be miffed at that too. The previous owner probably just took it into an Indy for something not realising the person working on it was a muppet. Still at least you know so it could get sorted. Enjoy the drive. :beerchug:

After all the repairs and other work, Doug worked some magic on the old girl and with a stage 2 dyno completed today she made a very respectable 436ps.

Pretty happy with that - especially looking forward for the new full power 1st to 3rd!

Collect the car in the AM - drive back to mine may need a detour! :p

It's good. The induction noise is out of this world. I seem to especially like 2k rpm, 3rd or 4th gear low speed full throttle and hearing it suck - sounds amazing and gets a lot of looks lol

The car drives like an entirely new and different car. Being my first rs4 I took the suspension setup I had as "how it is". Bit crashy but still ... "Ok". Tramlines a little but maybe tracking etc. didn't think much of it.

Since getting it back from mrc it's transformed the car. It's a point and shoot weapon. Drives like it's on bloody rails, very difficult to get it to break traction, and smooth as silk - even over roads I would have avoided before. It's honestly a new car. Very happy.

I have unfortunately got unrealistic expectations on power so whilst it made 430 odd, I really want more. A lot more. So I'm not sure how long I'll be able to live with it now c6's are so cheap. Under £30k gets you 700hp and 1000nm. We'll see I guess.

In other news, a led sidelight bulb gave up the other day. Went to remove it (drivers side, so induction off Grrr) and dropped the sodding bulb in the headlight. So headlight out job. Nightmare. Still, at least I proved you can take a headlight out without removing the bumper - albeit it was bloody tight!

Whilst the induction was off, and I was staring at the cold air feed and new found space, I was thinking about sorting a new heatshield down there after the guide on here. There's a project for me soon.

New brake pads fitted today (ferodo premiere) on recommendation of Doug. They'll have to bed in pronto on the drive to dover because Thursday the car goes to the nurburgring for a 5 day outing with mates.

I had the pagid ECP pads before (yeah yeah, I know...) and they're already under 75% or so worn. Ie, I've used 25% of the pads in less than 2000 miles. Think their made of cheese. Would explain the crud I had to drill out of the rotors cross drills earlier...

Carbon bits arrived from argon. Some good, some... Well, shocking tbh. Totally unacceptable. I was incredibly upset. But tony at argon has agreed to fix the part with the most issues and return (arrive tomorrow). I had to do final finishing on other parts though - something I wasn't expecting. But never mind, it'll be sorted soon. :)

That's it for now I think!

Oil cooler and dtm splitter fitted today. Subtly aggressive but now makes me want to tint the headlights lol.

Looking good Ross! I like the splitter.

Oil cooler - did you replace the lines too? JHM or Forge if so?

Sorry poor wording perhaps on my part.

I have just added the little oil cooler splitter in carbon. :)

Re: Drug dealer breadvan RS4

Well, it's survived a 1300 mile weekend to the nurburgring and I'm over the moon with how the car behaved basically.

Did 7 laps in it in total, and I've a new found love of the wet with this car. The tires on the car are (were) far from ideal as were down to the wear indicators but I figured I might as well put them out of their misery on the 'ring! BUT - I was staggered with the amount of grip available in the wet.

We averaged 15.9mpg from Dover, there, laps, and back to Dover, which given that we were at 110+mph a lot of the way there and nearly all the way back, plus the laps and local driving into town etc I'm pleased with. Obviously ring MPG was around 9mpg.

The brakes issue I had before going went away (thanks Doug!) - the solution to that was to clean the discs completely (drill holes etc) and replace the crap "OEM" pagid's with "ferodo premiere" - still cheap pads at £70 for a complete set, but worlds apart from the crap that is the ECP OEM stuff...

The only issue to surface from the trip is that I had some issues aggressively selecting 2nd gear when the engine/box was hot (IE, on the 3rd or subsequent laps). MRC had changed the clutch fluid as I'd reported that launching the car gives the sticky pedal but I guess that the clutch might just be on the way out - I'll be talking to Doug about this over the next few days to see what it might be. I'm guessing a new clutch and DMF is in the car's near future...

Enough talk, here's some attention seeking whore photos:

Mint.

What's that gleaming behind the grille in the first pic...I thought you'd put some extra RS4 badges on at first sight...or are they flashing blue lights!!!
