Bought my S3 from amersham that was an import with no probs.

Can't really see the Nogaro RS4 being an import a problem, well hopefully not!

Fontain stuffed me on the very first Audi I ever bought. It was an S2 estate and about 500 miles after having it (about 8 days) I hoticed that the water level had dropped off. I managed to trace it to a leak at the back of the cylinder head. Alred Smitth at Dialynx confirmed this and quoted the work at best part of £1k taking into account possible head damage. Were Fontain interested....not a chance. Finally they agreed to work on the car but as I was not paying for the work they took 6 weeks... , I had a std 1.6 A4 Auto during that time with bald tyres and no tax. They finally fixed it and when I went to pick the car up they told me that they had to replace the head, Dialynx had helped them source one. They were only willing to pay half the bill, so requested £498 from me to release the keys. We argued - a lot - and I went to speak to people on the forecourt eyeing up cars. We finally agreed that I'd pay £300 and get at least that off my next car from them....they were having a laugh obviousely....

Bought my 2 owner RS4 from Fontain after I managed to speak to the last owner. All checked out and car felt right so did the deal. Marcus, the boss at Fontain, does the buying and he drives a Noggy RS4 as his own car. So he should know them and they do sell numbers of S4/RS4.
On the negative side they should have put new rear discs on but on the positive they changed them without any argument when this was pointed out. 4 months on and AOK. :D
Whoever or wherever you buy from the car has to stack up and feel right.
I have to agree that positive votes for know cars on this site are a major plus.

Puts me of because in the past i bought an import BMW motorcycle from a main dealer when it came to selling it none of the dealers wanted it because it was an import ! the most ironic thing was that vines, who were one of the dealers i spoke to, bought three bikes from the same batch as mine off the same dealer . I was there when thier pick up collected them. Double standards !!!! Bet when they sold those to their customers they said there was no differance.

Another concern for me is Insurance a couple of companies i have spoken to don't like imports even if they are the same spec etc .

had my local dealer check - VIN number the usual way, apparantly another way you'll find out if your car is imported is if you try and claim for bent wheels, a little more red tape involved...

You will hear good and bad about all dealers, they will of sold many cars some good some not so,you need focus on the actual car rather than the dealer if its a good one it shouldnt give any trouble wherever its come from.the audi warranty gets a bit diluted as they age of the car increases covering less as they get older yet the price goes up!work that out.imports are the same car but do have a stigma attached and in my opinion you are narrowing down the field a bit when you come to sell on,i would have one but it would have to be cheaper.the main agents sell em so should warranty em,but check, fountain sounded good on the phone but told me no negotiations on rs4 even for a no p/x cash purchase which i didnt like,as there cars are a bit on the rich side

visited fontain on sat.

Spent a good couple of hours looking at their merlin and nogaro RS4's, Must say I was very impressed with both.Rang them on monday to buy the merlin only to find they had sold it! Plan b was to buy the nogaro bollocks they had sold that aswell!

They promised they would ring with anything else suitable within two hours I had a call offering me an avus one 1 owner 25k satnav+ etc.

Just picked it up, I would recommend fontain they seemed very knowledgable and I never felt pressured into buying, overall a good experience from start to finish.

Gonna visit them soon to upgrade brakes and revo it, let you know how it goes.

Thanks all for the info!
