Odd RS6 Sighting!!

Post by W8PMC » Mon Feb 14, 2005 3:00 pm

Last weekend (6th Feb), i spotted what looked like an RS6 Saloon between Manchester & Oldham (lights close to Housing Units if anyone knows the area), but something was not quite right.

The colour was kind of an Electric Blue, so could have been Nagaro & the bodyshell along with mouldings & 19" 5 RS6 5 spokes all looked RS6 (flared arches etc), but the Zorst looked akin to an S4 with 2 normal sized circular exits. Even more odd was that from memory, the rear valance appeared to be shaped to fit around circular rather than oval pipes.

The car had a private plate, so no idea on age etc. but were S4 size/shape pipes fitted to very early RS6's or has someone gone to the expense of fitting an RS6 bodyshell, mouldings & wheels to an S4?? Perhaps worse, could they have replaced the exhaust with a smaller variety :?:

Presumably an s6 (not an S$?) with big wheels... by the way if you want to see lots of standard audis with RS wheels go to Rusholme of an evening and sit in the window seat of your favourite curry house... I spotted no less than three A6's sporting natty sets of RS 5-spokes during the course of my Chicken Balti last night! Lock up your wheels, boys!

Did the S6 have the same bodyshell (flared arches) & body mouldings/bumpers etc. as the RS6?? Apart from the exhaust, it looked the same as an RS6.

Exactly the same bodyshell, but different front/rear bumper assemblies and lower door edge mouldings, and no sill extensions. However, not difficult to retrofit the RS versions.
