Newbie from the blue and white roundal

Post by Matt_P » Sun Jul 13, 2014 11:55 am

Hi, new to the forum, always been a Bm man as you can see from my car history but alway, always, always wanted a C5 RS6 Avant.

I'm 90% there! Sensible option is a 535d Touring (which my wife prefers) but now seems to be the perfect time with the magical combo of:
• gearbox going on my 530d
• bit of money coming my way
• new job with under 5000 miles a year
• two young children (justify it all on practicality grounds!)

Very excited and started looking for the right car!

Currently pottering around in my other little runabout: 55-65 mpg and £30 tax!!!!

Thanks! Learned so much from reading through posts over last 2 weeks - seemed a car through a forum member or linked to MRC/ unit 20 seems the way forward.

Already realised im looking for a car on coil overs, with plenty of preventative work and a good enthusiast history.

What is rule 1? I've noticed it in a few posts?

Welcome aboard :beerchug:

One word of warning though; make sure you're not replacing one vehicle with a gearbox problem with another...C5 RS6 'boxes can be somewhat fragile! :audibash:

Happy hunting and Rule 1 when you've bought her

Cheers!

Have to say the whole process is making me nervous!

http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=109623 seems like a good forum car with some good gearbox maintenance history.

Don't really want to get this wrong!
