Options for valves on the B7 wheels

Post by bam_bam » Wed Jul 09, 2014 7:59 pm

Anyone have suggestions? I've seen some very pretty 'scene' valves but I'm not sure how they'd work on OEMs. I'm reserved to the fact that I'd lose the TPMS.

Have you got B7 wheels on the 6 then? Which one?

They'll probably go on the avant.

Just out of curiosity, what do these 'scene' valves look like?

I've heard of scene valve caps but not valves. They usually all leak or corrode so stick with stubby rubber ones if not going tps.

I had to have the valves ripped out recently as the cheap ally caps had welded themselves to the valve stems, whether this is just endemic to the tps monitoring valves I don't know

S'pose you could apply some vaseline or copper slip to the valves to stop the tops sticking. Tis all good having these fancy caps, but some anus will rob them at some point.

The flush fit jobbies don't have fancy caps and apparently can't be let down without the proprietary stem. This is probably going to end up the same way as me delocking my boot but I'm gunna order some, they only cost a purple drinking ticket. Pretty cheap as far as C5 mods go.

There's no harm while the tyres are off. You can at least have a look.
You do know you'll lose that bit you need to inflate them don't you!

I'm buying a spare, it'll sit in the centre console, with your mum's sex toy.

She down sized then? I had to pick the last one up in the works van, couldn't even shut the rear doors.
You'll lose the spare too! Well, if you don't, i'll steal it at ADI.

Ah, now I see pictures, I can say that I had 'scene' valves many years ago. They became a pain imo and mine had an allen-key type head built in to the valve to let the valve to be the cap cover tool too. They worked but were a bit of a flaff for me checking pressures as often as I did.
