No not wishing to be negative about the car at all. In fact its quite near the spec I've ordered, if it had got a couple of other boxes ticked instead of the carbon, I'd have been very, very interested in it myself.
I suppose its horse for courses with regard to the keyless. If you live in an apartment block, then a break in for the keys is probably infinitely less likely than in a semi rural location. In which case the keyless may be more of a security concern than a convenience matter.
Its a great car, and just going from the configurator price of it compared to the price now (before haggling), it looks quite a good deal.
If I'm being negative about anything, its the ridiculous price of the carbon bits. Take the value of those off that car and its a damned good deal I reckon.

I'm seeing his logic though as surely if a new one can be had for the same money (perhaps even real world cheaper with better finance rates on a new one) & you spec it how you want, then why not opt for new assuming you can wait? Only read half the thread though so apologies if i missed something:)smudge wrote:Well, if I knew the answer I'd comment, but I obviously didn't spec the car. The carbon isn't that much interest, but then neither are your arguments re keyless. I live in an apartment block which at times I even struggle to get into as a resident, so I can't see anyone getting closer. If they chose to do it in broad day light on the street I'd simply give them the keys.
Chesterfield, I don't know you, so I am possibly miles off of the mark here, but you seem to be rather negative about the car as a whole. Not sure why though......
Regardless, thanks for the comments. There have been some useful pointers on it.
Logic i've always used for used cars is IF it's the perfect spec & IF i really can't wait to get one then a used/dealer demo is worth it. If however the opposite applies then i'd go new.

Re: Thoughts.....
Keyless entry makes no difference when the "light fingered" mob come around as both systems work basically the same - a signal from the remote either by pressing a button on the remote or by touching a pad on the door handle and the RS6 has no place to put the key in the ignition as there aint one - so its the signal they grab to gain entry
By pressing the remote to open/lock the door it sends a signal and the same is said if you put your finger on the pad on the door as the remote still sends a signal. Once in the car its all on the push of the button and the remote being in the car or them coding a separate/new remote/key to the car which is by all accounts easy enough to do with the correct tools!!
I have a friend that is working with the police on this as lots of manufacturers are saying this cant be done and insurance companies are refusing to pay out even though the vehicle owners still have both keys after their car has been stolen, especially top end Range Rovers!!

No, you have a point. The dealer is offering very good rates for finance, pretty much as new rates. The spec does pretty much tick the boxes although I'm not sure I'm all that fused about all the carbon. I wasn't aware new ones were offering such discounts..... I am really in no rush. The whole thing came around as I enquired about replacing my current B8 RS4 with a new one, which I wasn't planning on doing until spring next year. I'm also pretty convinced that the C7 is going to be too big as a DD in Central London. But then that might be a good thing & would keep the miles down.W8PMC wrote:I'm seeing his logic though as surely if a new one can be had for the same money (perhaps even real world cheaper with better finance rates on a new one) & you spec it how you want, then why not opt for new assuming you can wait? .
What offers are on the table for new then? Discount, APR & dealer contribution wise......
It's all torque talk.

Re: Thoughts.....
I got £10k off base including the dealer and Audi contribution of £6k, rate of 4.7 or 4.8% over a 36 month term. Deposit negotiable but I elected for around £15k
I basically got a copy of the deal/quote broad speed had, asked the dealer if they could get anywhere near as I would like to use them as they are my local. They got within £500 (which is actually £300 if you accou t for broadspeeds £200 fee) and they did the APR at the 4.7/4.8 that is available. The figures stacked up for me and I'm having a garage built at the moment so delivery in around three months suits me much better than getting into one immediately.
PS, slightly off topic but has anyone compared insuring the car in a garage overnight as opposed to on the drive? I was shocked to learn that its often cheaper to insure parked in the drive than locked in a garage!
Tested this myself with a couple of dummy quotes, and yes for me it is 10% cheaper NOT to put it in a garage. Bonkers.

I've heard of people paying less to leave in on their drive as opposed to their garage. Mine is actually cheaper to insure if its in my garage. Works out about £100 cheaper. It's probably dependant on where you live.
