Real World B8 RS4 Fuel Consumption

Post by carsarecool » Mon Jun 30, 2014 7:13 pm

Got the most from a tank of petrol today, thought I'd document as a benchmark.

230.6 miles - mostly motorway.
59.11 ltrs - probably 10 more miles in the tank

What was your MPG for that (It's too late for mental arithmetic) ?
My best on a 'normal' run in my RS4 was around 25, but I did see 30 once on the motorway as had to do 65-70 for 30miles
-------------------------------------------------------
Gone - 11/06 B7 RS4 Avant - black/black (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 05/13 B8 RS4 Avant - Suzuka grey (Daily drive & kids taxi)
Gone - 01/14 B8 RS5 Coupe - Short term car
Gone - 09/14 B8 RS4 Avant - Misano Red/Ceramics (Daily drive & kids taxi)

Current - 04/18 B9 Rs4 Nardo Grey
ZX10R Race bike - 210bhp and a few skid marks on the seat ;)

26 on way to Goodwood from Reading. I've ranged from 140 to 230 miles from a tank and probably average 200. I use the Adaptive Cruise almost always on the motorway.

Wish I hadn't worked it out....that's 17.7 MPG....and that's the best I've got so far...admittedly I drive the RS4 for more short journeys than long ones and I do have a lead right foot.

The computer says I've averaged 17PMG over the 4300 miles I've covered so I guess it's fairly accurate.

I know it's not what the RS4 is about but it is interesting to see if others get the same.

This is just one of those things I've never bothered looking into, or paying any interest in what mpg my car is doing
I just fill up and drive :smile_smoking:

my computer says 23.9 since i collected the car end sept 2013,cars done 6700mls always on v-power,the best i've seen is 32.2 on my 15mls journey home down a-b roads, strange as this might sound its got better since i turned the ac back on a few months ago but i think this could be more to do with the warmer morning starts, have noticed that the figures plumet if you sit stationary for a while

Don't you have a company fuel card?? :)

It's my hard earned, hence why I keep one eye on it out of interest.

Fairplay. I had a company fuel card up until a couple of years ago and fuel consumption was more about how much of ball ache stopping for fuel was rather than it's cost.....

22mpg average for first 1500miles.
Routinely see 26 if you drive it legally\ or while trying to be gentle breaking in the engine.

Best so far was 29.4 on A roads driving from Fort william to edinburgh.

This is easily 4-5mpg better than the B7 Rs4 i had before.

( Will take a long time to make up the extra 30k it cost me though)

I'm not normally an mpg hunter but woke up today in a relaxed mood and had plenty of time on my hands. I allowed the auto cruise to take me from Dubai to abu dhabi at a set 100km/h
