ordered prior to test drive

Post by Chesterfield » Tue Jun 24, 2014 10:41 pm

Thought I would join up as I've placed an order with the local dealer. Unfortunately they have no vehicle for a test drive but are looking to source one asap.

I've come to the conclusion that its the right choice, as having two young children I've realised that even though a two seated or 2+2 sports car would be nice, it would never get used. I need my sports car to also be available for taking my son & daughter to nursery/school.

In my eyes this narrowed the market to BMW M5, E63 and the RS6. No estate in the M5 ruled it out (not double pram friendly), and the E63 just doesn't float my boat looks wise at all.

So, with that in mind I've ordered the following:

Daytona pearl
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Stop&Go
Audi hands-free boot opening system with Advanced key
Black Gloss wheels
Audi parking system advanced with top view
Power door closure
Park Assist
Panoramic glass sunroof
Heated front and rear seats
Heat/sound-insulating glass with privacy glass
Mobile telephone preparation - High
Dynamic Package
Sports exhaust
Matt Aluminium Styling Package

Previously owned an XF-S and the ownership experience of the Jag was enough to put me off them for life.

The wait is about 12 weeks for me so I'm told. Car here by hopefully October, maybe sooner if possible.

Hoping that the test drive doesn't dissappoint. I'm especially interested in the satnav system given that its not touchscreen which I'm used to.

Hi there great choice not a AMG fan but also a good option in estate much cheaper and better deals. But for me as im an audi and RS fan got to be the 6 but if youre not dont rule out the others before driving. Great choice and a great spec colour is great mat alu pack will also look fantastic with the daytona along with wheels. All in all a great car and spec well done and thats a quickish build compared to some on here. And some people i know 12 weeks very good but make sure it will come then and not quite a bit later which is what might happen if your anticipating a 12 week build. But other than that congrats mate and welcome to the forum :beerchug: .

Saw one in frogland, styling was a bit lost on me, was still a little Burt and Ada.

12 weeks is good, I'm at three months and counting. Suspect it's the ceramics adding delay.

Not fancy the black / carbon optics to go with the dark wheels?

Not at the price Audi are charging for the carbon fibre bits. Plus it would be another £1500 for the carbon mirrors (because if you're going carbon you may as well go the whole hog)

If I think it would look better after delivery with carbon bits I'll probably get them wrapped. At least that way I can keep the easy boot opening which can't be combined with the Audi carbon option.

Hi Chesterfield, what a great spec car!
I collected my new RS6 2 weeks ago with a very similar spec and I am over the moon with the way it drives. You definitely won't be disappointed with your test drive. Previous to my RS6 I've owned mainly beemers and mercs and a jag xfr and I have to say the Quattro beats them all hands down for handling and sheer fun. One option I could now never do without is the Head Up Display, I was doubtful at first for speccing it but I use it for every single journey now...its surprising just how much it helps with keeping an eye on the speed limits if the speed you're doing is always in your field of vision without having to keep looking down at the speedo. But you've ordered the best toy of all...the sports exhaust! Listening to the exhaust bark on the downshifts is soo addictive!
Here's to wishing your sleepless nights come and go quickly! :beerchug:

Have previously had a F430 as my "toy" car, but with now having a family, time to enjoy an outright sports car would be almost non existent. I figured this way, I can have a sporty car and use it every day :)

Just sold another "spare" car today, so may tickle a couple more options boxes yet.

I always thought that something like the HUD was a bit of a gimmick, but the more I read peoples opinions and reviews, I'm thinking it may actually be a useful feature, along with the speed limit recognition camera thingy.

Same as me...before the kids came along I had a 308 QV, then a 328 and a 512....ditched the Ferraris for an 850 Beemer when the kids just needed a back seat, then as they grew older so did my back seat space and eventually got an M5 estate. I never got over the practicality of being able to take the dog and a months shopping in a 'wagon' so went to an XFRS sport brake last year. Even with all the nanny controls on it still snaked in the wet and I doubt if I managed to get even half the power down through 2 wheels most of the time.
First time out in the RS6 just blew me away....it is frighteningly fast and just keeps on pulling! Feels like I've gone back 20 years when I go out in this car....having fun at roundabouts and hairpins all over again, but with the added confidence of 4WD and getting all of that power down is an incredible feeling!

The standard XF-S that I had was absolutley awful in the snow. Its not every year we get it where I live, but as I no longer live on a bus route, there are sections of my journey to and from work that dont get any grit/salt. As the intention is to use it as the daily drive, then the 4WD of the RS is a major attraction.

Ive looked at the XF and it doesnt seem to come as well equipped, or the options dont seem available to make it as well equipped. There are some plus points such as the seats being cooled and heated as standard where as on the RS that is an option. But then things like top view camera arent available, or power tailgate by the looks of it - either that or they dont list a lot of the standard features on the Jaguar website.

The XFR-S comes absolutely fully loaded compared to the RS 6.

Spec for spec after discount you'd be looking at a sizeable price differential.

But some options are available like for like as will always be the case across marques.

If you need 4WD, there is only one answer!

An R8 !
