Can you expand on this? What particular technology do you see as old or missing on the B8 RS4? And compared to what?blueaudi wrote:I don't think the B8 is archaic, but car technology is moving so quickly now that the B8 platform is naturally beginning to feel dated and at the price point buying a new one now is a bigger call than a couple of years back. Great car though and a rare enough sight, be interesting to see if Audi introduce the B9 earlier in the cycle.

This takes me back to when I was a kid, I wanted a new computer my dad said son lets wait for the new one to come, god I waited for years, trouble is at some point there's always going to be a new one out.I don't think the B8 is archaic, but car technology is moving so quickly now that the B8 platform is naturally beginning to feel dated and at the price point buying a new one now is a bigger call than a couple of years back. But at this moment in time it's the b8 I've got one and think it's the nuts, when the new one comes out I will test drive it, and if I think it's good I will most likely buy one, it's all common sense
Something tells me your have a long wait for the next one, so stop being a big girl and get your fat wallet out and buy one, or maybe the wallet is not so fat??

Ha! I'm in the market for a new DD over the next few months and now have the time to do some serious car shopping but I take your general point, at some stage you've got to get off the pot! Been very impressed with the technology on the M5, the HUD and integrated media/nav is miles ahead and it's hard to ignore, though the fact is I don't really like M cars. The possibility of a stop gap (hire a C63) until the B9 has some appeal.RIV wrote:This takes me back to when I was a kid, I wanted a new computer my dad said son lets wait for the new one to come, god I wait for years, trouble is at some point there's always going to be a new one out.I don't think the B8 is archaic, but car technology is moving so quickly now that the B8 platform is naturally beginning to feel dated and at the price point buying a new one now is a bigger call than a couple of years back. To carsarecool, you seem intent on taking my comments as criticism, they're not, it's simply observation based on recent experience and I'm not trying to suggest that the B8 is a Model T. My current daily driver is a Discovery 4, which I've had for almost 3 years. It's a very good car but the technology is crap and now that my wife has freed me from having to drive a 4x4 tow car (it's her turn) I can drive something more interesting with better technology. I am simply chewing over my options on the internet, that's all.

blueaudi,
I don't mind criticism when it has foundation. 24 hours isn't long enough to get used to a new motoring proposition and I was simply digging for more information on your comments. My interpretation of you dilemma is you want an RS4, the B8 is "old tech" which you don't want to buy into and you'd rather have a C63 until the B9.
If HUD etc floats your boat then you'll need a BMW....I really, really want a self-clearing windscreen but I ain't going to buy a Ford/Land Rover to get it.
RIV beat me to it. You can wait for something that either may not happen or not be as good as you expect. Carpe Diem and do what RIV suggested....make a decision on your own and enjoy it. If you ask a Forum you'll never get a balanced view. My Dad did it recently when choosing a PC....he spent months reading the reviews, asking advice from everyone and then goes against it all and does his own thing (typically the wrong thing but he's happy).

Not sure quite what you're referring to as I don't come on her too often but I can guess, common denominator comes to mind.
