After just completing a 3 day jaunt from Newcastle to the south of France, I can honestly say you can keep your diesels in favour if my B8 RS4....

This car is absolutely epic and a B7 wouldn't see where it went to come the fast and twisty stuff up in the mountains.

Wringed it's kneck yesterday for 7 hrs from Crots over the mountains on route nepolean N85 and some detours for the sake of it.
Battered a Masser, a few bikes amongst other fast machinery.

Money savings won't pay for the memories or the smiles that I've got so far

Until it coked up, the DRC burst, clutch switch gave up.....

Gearbox is a big step up. Put the same peddler in both and I can't see how the B7 could keep up.

Trust me it would keep up. The B8 is a heffer and the gearbox only offsets the weight

Yeah, I'd agree with that
Even a carbon cleaned B7 would struggle to keep up if everything else was level
There'd not be much in it, but the b8 would be faster
B7 driver would know more about what's happening under his front wheels though

No more than any FSI engine. The issues specific to B7 have been addressed.

Would this be as he crashes trying to keep up :bigblink:

Second thoughts... talk me off the ledge

Tracked both RS 5 and B7 round the ring. B7 would have no problem what so ever keeping with a lardy arse B8

Not so sure tbh I've been out quite a few times with b7's
Once on the move there's not so much in it, off the line the b8 is loads better, and the diff helps things for sure round the twisty stuff, MRC stage 2 tune b7 is a little slower, but not much :nodder:

I would concur with that. My jaunt to this years Le Mans was with a MRC stage 2 B7 & all I have done is replaced my airfilters & fiited the zorst. On the Autoroute I pretty much had the B7 taken, especially if we were on a standing start. The owner said he struggled most of the time to keep up with me.

Having said all of this, I learnt last night that this B7 is not doing so well & is visiting MRC tomorrow for a check up, so either the owner ran her ragged or it's had an issue he wasn't aware of prior to Le Mans.

Either way, both are great cars.
It's all torque talk.
