Phantom black advice needed pls!

Post by KernowPete » Fri Jun 20, 2014 10:25 am

Morning all
My phantom RS4 is due for its next amatuer home detail. I've noticed since the last time its picked up a few more moderate scratches (nothing right through the paint though) and swirls. I'm now reasonably confident with the DA but feel I need to now start using some more slightly aggressive products to remove the slightly more serious defects. Up until now I've been using Meguairs Ultimate Compound or Scholl Concepts S17, mainly on microfibre pads. So, I would like to ask the RS246 hive mind what the latest thinking is on the best compound/pad combo is for a DA for correcting everyday scratches and blemishes on phantom black. As I said, I think I need to go more aggressive than those products already mentioned.
Cheers all
Pete

Mate the microfibre system can remove as much as 20 microns of paint so you may be skating thin already, that system can also mute the paintwork which may be why the gloss has dropped back.

The only step up from S17+ is S3 Gold but as you have used MF previously take some readings, let me know what they are and i will advise accordingly before giving a definitive answer.
