MRC Smashed it again :)
Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Why don't you all just do the Arthur test and post the video footage as evidence? That way you rule out the driver.....
Does anyone know what the gear ratios are on a B8 RS4?
If they were the same or close it would be interesting to see what times Silas's car posts. More power but slightly heavier so the power to weight ratio cannot be much higher than a stock B7.

My old b7 had just had full carbon clean, gutted cats, stage 2 manifold, JHM Spacers, cold air feed.If they were the same or close it would be interesting to see what times Silas's car posts. More power but slightly heavier so the power to weight ratio cannot be much higher than a stock B7.
Did drive well, but my b8 feels quicker, it's down to gearbox. Simples
Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
I would expect the gearbox to make a big difference on a 0-100 test, thats why I was interested to see how the car performs in one gear to rule that advantage out.
By all accounts the DSG box in the B8 is a great bit of kit, would be much quicker on a track and on most roads as well no doubt.
But for the sake of involvement I will stick with the manual and be slower.

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
I can totally understand what your going on about with the manual, but after a few months with the DSG box it just clicks into place why it's so good, it takes time to adjust after 5 years in the b7 but once you get usd to it it's just as involving and quickerBut for the sake of involvement I will stick with the manual and be slower.
Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Good to read the opinion of someone who has ran both cars.
I agree, given time I probably would adapt to the DSG box as well (the way things are going I will have to at a point in the not to distant future anyway).
On a well sighted road and with two hands on the wheel I can see how a DSG box would be just as involving and undoubtably faster.
But you can't heel/toe with a dual clutch box and for now, I think I would miss that challenge way too much. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get it wrong but for me that is all part of the fun of hustling a car down a good back road where visabilty is the limiting factor rather than the raw pace of the car.
I guess it just comes down to individual tastes, both are good, just in different ways.

Totally agree,I love the b7 it's a great car, and for the money it's a winnerI guess it just comes down to individual tastes, both are good, just in different ways.
Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
I kinda look at it the other way around, the b8 isn't good enough for the money, but I suppose that's from someone who is looking for his next expensive toy and wants an improvement over his current car,the gearbox is indeed a peach but.............I need the superior no nonsense handling for the roads near we're I live.Having had 2 separate maps on my b7 by Mrc I can confirm that unlocking full power is very noticeable and other companies claim they do it but don't.
Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
well my car goes in for a stage two in 2 weeks..... from a stage one or the only AMD map possible.
Currently imo its hard to drive in s mode, second to third gives a delay depending when you get on the throttle.
its quick but not that quick imo.
If I have lost torque or not I am looking forward to the MRC remap. seems I couldn't go to a better place? am also a little nervous that they may find somthing wrong lol .

Make sure you let us know your findings, trust me you will be pleased, standard the b7 is a bit flat to say the least in the lower gears.

its not like for like but hoping the car has no issues I will be able to give a decent review on stage 1 amd vs stage 2 MRC.
cant wait tbh

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Reg, it will be a different car with mrc stage 2. S mode with the delimit on 1-3 gears makes the delivery very linear. You won't regret it.
As lengster mentions, post your findings - a good position to be in to compare...

Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
there already removed but reagardless . it may be a waste of cash I will soon find out once the pre cats are gone Im hoping it just has that extra 50nm toruqes and a few ponys that it lacks. It is quick but its not breathtaking given the noise it makes. I know the limitations when I purchased so get it up to a max first then supercharger time maybe.neilparf wrote:Reg, it will be a different car with mrc stage 2. Re: MRC Smashed it again :)
Cars with that modlist and JHM tune over here are quicker than B8 RS4/RS5. The B8 does it effortlessly though, so I can see how it feels quicker. It's always as fast as it can be, whereas the B7 needs a little work to get everything right.Silas wrote:My old b7 had just had full carbon clean, gutted cats, stage 2 manifold, JHM Spacers, cold air feed.If they were the same or close it would be interesting to see what times Silas's car posts. Can you put it in 3rd in M mode, mat the accelerator and run from 2000 to redline? Or does it force you to kickdown?
