Road noise

Post by Amosu » Tue Feb 01, 2005 4:12 pm

Well, I have to say I'm impressed with the B6 S4. Don;t start getting any serious road noise in the cockpit till you pass 130mph.

That said at 153mph it is pretty loud! :D

Totally agree. It's nice to have doors with frames again. The TT would get whistly above 120.

Some guys in the US reckon that the furry type of stuff on the wheel arch liners is for noise deadening. I thought it was simply an anti spray thing. Not sure but it certainly does cruise quietly.

Im wondering whether to take it back to the stealer I bought it from and ask why it won't let me go faster than 153... Limiter isn't supposed to kick in till 155!!! :D

Oh - and I know i'm only doing 153 cos I have a Road Angel, so use that rather than my speedo

You sure you're driving a B6 mate? Autocar (who are the most accurate publication re performance figures) list top speed of the B6 S4 Avant at 164mph. The B5 S4 was always listed at 153.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the B6 hasn't actually got a limiter??

Yep. Defo a B6 - registered May 2003 on an 03 plate - 4.2 V8 not a 2.7 biturbo V6 :)

Maybe the limiter was put in some cars and not others? Was running about 5.8k revs and doing 153mph and didn't want to go any more.

My dad had this haunted look on his face too, so I decided to slow down a bit. When I'm out on my own next I shall have to try it again
