Just a curiosity, but assuming it’s standard on all grade / all destination country models, as opposed to the Rear Trunk Scroll ‘Cover’, there is also a Scroll ‘Curtain’ (the one that connects up to the Headliner, in the case I assume that you have high loose luggage, a dog..or the like traveling in your Trunk).
- Do many people ‘use’ that Curtain? It seems the standard Scroll Cover is adequate for most peoples needs.
- If not, having removed it on the first day I got car, have you noticed how darn heavy that thing is? There’s no lightweight spare wheel, BUT there is a heavy Scroll Curtain - the frame that is? The thing must weight about 6~7 Kg!

Re: Rear 'Headrest to Headliner' Scroll Curtain _ general qu
I thought it was quite nice feature/surprise to have built in as opposed to an additional thing I had to buy and store as I had to for my Q5.
Hadn't really considered the weight as the q5 equivalent was quite lightweight

I didn't use it once on either my b7 or b8
I did take it out and store it in the garage for a while, but the gap between parcel curtain and rear seats annoyed the crap out of me
You're right though, it's bleeding heavy and a real faff to keep taking it in and out to fit in bikes

One nice feature of the q5 was the rear bench seat plus. You could slide the whole back seat forward/backward to close the annoying gap between the seat and parcel shelf. It also let you recline the outer rear seats as well
Intrigued now and didn't realise the thing was removable on the rs4. Will play later

My wife's Mini Countryman does the same thing. It's a nice feature as although it take a lot of packaging for the rails (i.e., the rear seat needs to raise about 30mm to accommodate), it means you can either slide right forwards to have 5 seats and more boot space, or right back for less boot, more leg room.Moonmonkey831 wrote:One nice feature of the q5 was the rear bench seat plus. I guess you just need a high roofed car to fit it in. Q7 does it too

Do you think the scroll curtain or the boot cover acts as cross braces to improve the rigidity of the car?
thanks

One name from the pot......
- I'd think it's very unlikely. If it was non-removable, and the frame end anchor points were bolted / 'fixed' in place, then perhaps it might have dual function. As it stands it seems to offer no pull or torsional strain support.

I weighed them last night. About 4.3kg each. Thinking of ditching them and putting an army blanket in the trunk to cover my items because they just get in the way when I have tall items.
