Oil (again!) 0W-40 ok for S4?

Post by ajsl » Fri Jan 28, 2005 11:16 am

Despite reading the various threads here :) (and on AudiWorld) I'm a bit unclear as to whether or not it's a good idea to use Mobil 1 0W-40 in my car (a stock S4).

It's going in for a service in a week or so and I'm wanting to supply my own oil. I've got some Mobil 1 0W-40 already, is there any reason I shouldn't use it?

Cheers,
Alex.

Very good question, especially since there have been a few posts lately about Audi longlife oil and even the normal 0W-30 not being the best choices for the turbo cars when the oil is changed at 5k miles.

i dont think there is anything wrong with 0w-40 it might not be the absolute ideal but from what i understood it certainly wasnt bad for the engine to use mobil1.
There was a big discusssion here or at audisport a while ago as to what oil to use for the s4. I am currenty running my chipped s4 on mobil1. It will be interesting to see if peoples opinions have changed regarding mobil1 though.
Mine is going for a service soon so its gonna get replace with synta gold (or whatever amd use)
