I know it's a long shot. Just thought I'd put them out there.
I'll see if they will expand on the info of the "upgraded" parts

Wondering if it can do launches while building boost with left foot braking without damaging the tranny and transmission's input shaft...?

Subbed. Saving hard for hybrids downpipes cams and box. Any substantitive imput will be followed
Re: Box upgrades
Just make sure you don't make the same mistake Amanda made with her hybrids when she ended up with an RS 6 that really didn't benefit from the hybrids, and IMO was no faster than my MRC Stage 2 at the time.

I wouldn't spend the (massive amounts) of cash on the first 2 and not sure about the cams.dubbed_up_daz wrote:Subbed. Saving hard for hybrids downpipes cams and box. Any substantitive imput will be followed
Gut the precats out of the stock downpipes and they will be just about as good as aftermarket downpipes at a fraction of the cost. Unless you like shiny new things in places where you don't see them.
Gutted precats, wagner ICs + a good map and you will have unlocked 98% of the easily accessible performance of the car. My car dynoed over 500 at MRC on the stock map with these restrictions removed. Diminishing returns kick in very hard at this point and every horsepower will cost quite a bit of money going forward.

Re: Box upgrades
Mines is already over 5 and I cant see how hybridised turbos and catless larger downpipes along with the wagners and a proper map would be a bad move. Dont know why I said cams, that plan is for the other engine. At this point while im facing a box bill anyway im very interested in any kind of uprated slushbox options.
As for new parts that nobody ever sees....when/why is that ever a bad thing?

You sure? I seem to remember it was way more than 500.JCviggen wrote: Gutted precats, wagner ICs + a good map and you will have unlocked 98% of the easily accessible performance of the car. My car dynoed over 500 at MRC on the stock map with these restrictions removed.

Re: Box upgrades
You'll only make around 40-50hp more for all the huge cost of the turbos, downpipes, & wagners etc. The C5 is really choked by the design of the manifolds and the "weakness" of the box so you'll be able to improve the response with those mods but the actual power increase will be minimal for the cost.

Re: Box upgrades
Agree. Gutted precats, std exhaust, Wagner ICs and good map (custom to take advantage of these mods) should be around 520ps. Those physical mods and stock (450ps) map, though, wouldn't make 500 would they!?

Well, I've never actually found a dyno of any other car that did it, but I know that Mihnea was slightly puzzled after the first baseline pull he did in my car. And you'd think he has done quite a few of them. Basically it did 512 PS (corrected down due to atmos. conditions) on the first run and Mihnea reckoned it had already been mapped before. Which was technically correct as my map was called "VMAX" in VCDS, not stock, but upon examination he found no differences in the boost maps but the speed limiter had been taken off.TechNick wrote:Agree. To make sure he then proceeded to flash a stock map into the ECU himself and did another run, this one actually did 3 PS more lol, 515 this time.
He showed me an overlay of the graph with a fully stock C5 he had in his database, and I assume a boost leak or 2 in the stock ICs on that one

Essentially where the stock car is getting choked at high revs the power on mine just kept climbing with no obvious timing pull going on. So that sent it all the way to 515 PS on a stock map, not that peak power was right when he finished the run. Somewhat curious what it would have been like had he continued for another 500rpm or so.
Once the car got the map in, the restriction (and temperature issue) at high revs came back again. Loads more power in the midrange but at the very top there wasn't much in it. Mind you, my butt dyno suggests that the falloff at high rpm doesn't really happen on the street with real cooling. The intercoolers generally don't get nearly the airflow they need on a dyno.
Assuming some quite optimistic dyno software, taking off 20 horsepower would still leave it making 500 on stock mapping. I generally believe that nearly all dynos read too high but since turbocharged cars in particular have an easier time making their power on an actual road it evens itself out.

Re: Box upgrades
In spite of emailing them again, Cascade seem to just want to re send me the list of parts above as the "upgrade kit" with no further details.seaneb wrote:I had this reply from a company stateside after I enquired about a gearbox upgrade kit:-
Hello ,
We actually have this kit in the booth doing photos today
the upgraded drum is one of the most crucial parts for these rebuilds to last
the "A" clutch hub and bearings to have a lot of problems
typically this is replaced when your drum has failed and wiped out this area of the transmission
http://www.cascadetransmissionparts.com ... ubkit.aspx
5HP24 A Clutch Hub Kit
the Premium Bundled Kit will include:
All gaskets , seals, o-rings, metal clad seals , pump washers , small screens
High Energy Clutch Friction Plates
All internal Steel Plates
Kuhle Heavy Duty A Clutch Drum
"F" Clutch Piston
Transgo pressure regulator upgrade kit
Filter
This bundled kit sells for $593.88
not sure what the exact shipping would be , but i can have a kit weighed if you would like to proceed.
I would estimate , Express Shipping is going to be roughly $135.00

Presumably the "pressure regulator upgrade kit" ensures more hydraulic pressure to clamp the clutch plates together harder but not sure what (if anything) is upgraded about the "clutch F piston.
I think for $ 730 delivered it's probably worth a punt though as the parts are going to be at least the same spec as the originals but will more than likely be stronger and more reliable being that they are being marketed as such.
Also, being American, they will know a thing or two about slush boxes.
If and when my car munches it's trans again I'll order this kit and take it to whoever is tasked with the job.
(Somebody's got to take the plunge I suppose or we will always be moaning that there's no decent upgrade kits available and doing nothing about it)!!
