Cheers celldamage, always 2 bucket, new micro fibre towels/MIT every couple of washes, grit guard? What's that.

This is why I'm a bit miffed with the job done by the valet company, the previous owner took very good care of it and I do as well.

Cheers

They really do work well at keeping the wash solution nice and clean.

Cheers, good idea. Although I don't know how he manages to explain their function for a full 5 mins! As soon as I seen them their use was pretty apparent.

I moved to a rotary as soon as I bought the RS.

I found the DA painfully laborious on VAG paint with any deep swirling. If you've seen my thread you'll have seen the results.

Admittedly that's fresh paint on the bonnet, wings and bumper but it wasn't to the standard it is now.

It's taken me a year on and off to get it to where it is now and I don't even drive the car every day. Its 100% impossible to keep a car completely swirl free even if you 2 bucket wash with grit guard and pat dry. Using any type of cloth and washing regularly will induce minor swirling no matter what.

If I were you I'd practice on an old bonnet with a borrowed DA and a Rotary, see how you get on and practice with pads and mixes of compound. Read some forums and go from there.

I wouldn't pay a detailer to do my car though, it's far more satisfying admiring your own hard work.

Haha exactly what I thought, it is important you scrub the wash mitt on them though (obviously).

Sorry just looked at the pics and responded immediately! Yes a practice panel is getting ordered.

My rs is not my daily either but I lack indoor storage for it so it needs cleaned more times than I drive it!

Thanks mate, its hard work but very rewarding.

I had both wings, bumper and bonnet painted for £750, I can't fault the work tbh.

Apparently they did an extra coat of lacquer for me too as I told him I'd detail the <beep> out of it!! Lol

Yes mate bumper too, all removed and completely dismantled etc. I'd of been happy paying more for the detail and level of skill they put in to it.

Ok that sounds not to painful if I make a crap job of the stone chips. Maybe more for pearlescent paint?

Jay did you deal with the gravel rash on the rear quarter just behind the rear doors?
