Both electric fans running from cold
Guys - when I start up from cold (with A/c off), both electric fans start running, any idea's where to start looking? Nothing has poped up on VAG-com....
RE: Both electric fans running from cold
When G62 temp sensor fails, or fault in circuit, the fans will run as a failsafe.

RE: Both electric fans running from cold
Thanks Morpheous. It seems to have sorted itself out but (VAG-COM did eventually report a fault when I ran autoscan, intermittent short on circuit) I think I'll repace the sensor and clean terminals etc. Is the G62 sensor located on the Radiator (passenger side near the bottom)?
Thanks

G62 is down the back of cylinder head Bank 1.
Rad fan switch is the one you are looking at. F18/F54, a fault in any of these will pull the fans on though.
If the sensor G62 has a back plastic housing, replace it with the modified green type. Always change the o ring seal for a NEW one, you may have to fish the old one out with your finger. Place the new seal on the sensor, rub some coolant around the seal and gently push it home square, refit the plastic clip.
Avoid getting the connector or pin end of the sensor covered in coolant.
My car was a 2000 MY and I had problems removing the sensor due to corrosion. With patience it can be done, without it, I would get a gge to do it cos you will damage something.

Thanks again Morpheous. I'll need to check the fault code and take it from there I think...
