help me choose a car!
Re: help me choose a car!
Southampton Audi don't seem to be answering their phone today
Maybe it's a holiday in Southampton

Bollocks! Finally got thru' to Southampton Audi, only to be told that the Ming blue S4 Avant was sold at the weekend - maybe they should take it off the website then

Re: help me choose a car!
The website is rarely 'up to date'. It can take a few days to remove some cars. Conversely, a dealer may have just got a car in, but not advertised it yet. It just depends on your luck when you ring them.

There are a few S4's for sale in autotrader including a tuned 345BHP MTM car http://www.obesonline.com/
Re: help me choose a car!
Hi Andy....
I too have given up the Scooby in search of a more refined but no slower drive and hence S4.... good luck and we have loads of options with what is comparatively an engine in a very low state of tune (not design).
On you original question .... I like the dark colours on the Audi's so probably the black one. Use the 2K if not for tuning to get 18" wicked alloys that will contrast with the dark paint. Then you will have something looking very special indeed.

Hi Steve,
Yes, I am andy_w from ScoobyNet
I've sold my scoob now, and I'm after an S4. I'm hoping it will give me similar performance, but a bit more quality and anonymity
I moved from Scoob (UK turbo) to S4 in 2001. Performance is similar but different. What you mainly notice is the torque (loads more) and its usability (coming in from 1850 rpm). However since the Scoob is a LOT lighter, acceleration is similar. For me the turbo lag is the big PITA of the Scoob.
However compared to the Scoob, the S4 suspension is soft. H&R coilovers will make the S4 handle better (yes I do mean better) than a std Scoob. You also need a short-shifter on the S4.
Once you tune the car (mine is now around 340bhp & 560Nm) it becomes rival to the best STIs, again mainly because of the torque range.
BTW the quality is not just a bit better, it is MILES better!!!

Re: help me choose a car!
Cheers for the advice there Dave,
I was wondering about coilovers but don't want to lower the car by much. Mine clips my drive ....
What mods got your performance....
My scoob wasn’t std 300BHP + and 300lbs at 2200 hence the performance and torque was very strong. Still as you said a totally different drive.

Re: help me choose a car!
Well, I finally took the plunged and bought one
Despite all the good advice I received on here , I have gone for the silver car shown above.
Although I did want the recaros, I wasn't too sure about the black. However, my decision was really down to the attitude of the respective dealers.
Robinsons Audi in Norwich were very unhelpful, and refused to budge from the list price of £19995, despite the fact that I was a cash buyer If they had even come down to £19500, I would have bought the car!
On the other hand, Shane at Grimsby Audi is probably the most helpful car salesman I have ever come across
He always returned my calls, and also called unprompted several times just to keep updated on my situation. But most importantly, he got the price of the silver S4 down from £21995 to £20500, which is below the retail price in the Glass' guide.
Should get my car by the end of the week, just got to arrange collection from Grimsby now
cheers,
Andy

Re: help me choose a car!
Congratulations Andy - a great colour and with black leather too
I know which dealer I'm going to first when I change mine - thanks
Oh, nearly forgot - have you decided on your first mod yet

Re: help me choose a car!
Thanks Joshie!
No mods just yet - I won't be able to afford it Besides, I'd like to live with the car as standard for a while first.
Eventually, I may consider getting it chipped - might wait and see how the Revo re-map for the S4 looks? Also, would like to get a nice set of RS4 alloys sometime, but again not for a while!
cheers,
Andy
soon....

Re: help me choose a car!
I understand - I think I ran mine in standard form for about a year before getting a remap. Trouble is that when you start you cant stop
My car in present form is generating 450lb/ft and goes like the wind. I have no intention of changing it at the moment (although I could always be persuaded at the right price)
Happy S4 motoring!

Yes, mine's lowered by 1-2" and some speed bumps can be a pain. I love the handling though so I just drive fast over the bumps!!!
The performance comes from an AmD remap and the full Miltek exhaust (including cats). Amd had to remap it after the cats were fitted, and that made a BIG difference. Of course I also have Forge DVs and an APR bipipe (I wouldn't want to rely on the rubber TBB with 1.3 bar!).
To be honest I wouldn't want the mods without the H&Rs and the Porsche brakes...

Re: help me choose a car!
Have you got any photos of your Bi-pipe installed?
Have a look in the gallery under Joshie - there is a picture of the bi-pipe with my other pics
